My 16 year old daughter and myself stayed here for a short break last week.
Our welcome wasn't brilliant, the receptionist was a little bit 'scary', but apart from that we had a wonderful time.

The beach behind the hotel is absolutely breathtaking. We used to walk down to the little caves down at the bottom and spent a lot of time in the sea. The weather was unexpectedly sunny and hot and we did get a little bit sunburnt! Remember the sun-block.

Our room was spotless and obviously very recently renovated. It wasn't huge but the standard was so high it didn't really matter. The only thing was the small balcony overlooking the car park. This was a problem at night when two large coaches of American guests arrived in the middle of the night and we were kept awake for at least an hour.

The restaurant was beautiful, we managed to get a table by the terrace with pool and sea views. It didn't have that canteen feel that some hotels have. The food was of a very good standard and as some children were asking for pasta, the restaurant made sure there was some available for the next two nights. Fantastic selection of fresh fruit. The oranges were delicious.

Ten minute walk to Alvor which is small but has some nice little cafes and shops. The whole area was very quiet but we found most of the local people in the shops really friendly.

The only thing that let the hotel down slightly was the pool. It looks like it was built a long time ago and was very tired looking and although it was clean it was rather too deep not to have a lifeguard on duty with young children staying in the Easter holidays. Over 3 metres deep.

The gym was excellent.

Jut back from a weeks golfing holiday courses superb hotel brilliant staff very friendly great location food very well presented 10 min walk to town. Eight golfers and bags transferred to different courses with out a hitch on time every time. To quote bob Wilson (former arsenal keeper) what more does a boy want from a golfing holiday.

To the manager and staff a very big thank you from all of us at the Penshaw Catholic Club Golf Society you made our holiday other Hotels could learn a lot thanks again and hope to see you next year.

Recently i returned from on night this hotel and would like to pass along some of my thoughts. This is a hotel with some positives, but not the "4" Star it promotes. At best this is a good "3" Star Hotel.

Pros:
The pool area is very nice. A little loud at times.
The beach and ocean like almost any Algarve are excellent.
Vegetation and grounds are lovely
Everywhere is clean - rooms, grounds, beach, lobby etc.
The rooms are a nice size and the bed and bedding comfortable

Cons: Staff is old aged and VERY slow in the check-in and check-out.
Service in the bar is slow and drinks are not good at all.
Aged Hotel with a lot of work need to be done outside and inside.

There are better options in the area, and this is NOT a Pestana Hotel... they bought it and forget to put it to the standarts os Pestana Hotels.

Room Tip: Any room with ocean view is nice

Not enough parking had to park on road and risk getting run over on quite a sharp bend . Rooms modern and clean . Sofa bed leatherette so bit sweaty . Try to get an end room so balcony not overlooked and best sea views on floor three and above . Crappy towel deposit scheme which caused some stress, be sure to get your card off the pool attendant if you return your towel to the bin outside his shed. Most of the staff were miserable as sin only exception were the room maids . Some rooms have interconnecting doors useful if you have kids . Halls very noisy poor/no sound insulation on room door sounds like someone knocking on your door when it's not ! Weird arrangemt of bathroom blind on outside of bathroom . Very small fridge but good amount of clothes and bag storage . Nothing entertainment wise nearby . Be warned beach restaurants nearby not open in early season.
