My husband and I were here from the 23rd-30th June. Alvor Baia is impressive to look at, clean, modern and rooms are very spacious. It was built as apartments but they didn't sell so was turned into a hotel. This is why the rooms have kitchen and living space and HUGE balconies.Room service was fab.
The food was fine, plenty of choice including traditional Portuguese and some familiar dishes too. Dining area does get very loud and canteen like as mentioned before on here. Special food area for kids (and chips on offer for breakfast!)
The pool is very big with shallow areas at either end so very child friendly. But the only downfall was the lack of sunbeds or umbrellas. People place towels on sunbeds and don't appear for hours, even though we read they don't allow this. They need to in-force it somehow as we had to sit and wait for ages for one to become available. And not nearly enough umbrellas to go around unfortunately.
There is a walk into Alvor itself, taking about 10-15 mins down a small hill. A little futher to beach but we did take the free (very sweet, very slow) train once, which drops you off at the beach and picks you up throughout the day.
Overall would recommend this hotel. Staff friendly, child friendly(kids everywhere), clean and tidy. Thanks Alvor Baia :)
