“Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

My husband and I were here from the 23rd-30th June. Alvor Baia is impressive to look at, clean, modern and rooms are very spacious. It was built as apartments but they didn't sell so was turned into a hotel. This is why the rooms have kitchen and living space and HUGE balconies.Room service was fab.
The food was fine, plenty of choice including traditional Portuguese and some familiar dishes too. Dining area does get very loud and canteen like as mentioned before on here. Special food area for kids (and chips on offer for breakfast!)
The pool is very big with shallow areas at either end so very child friendly. But the only downfall was the lack of sunbeds or umbrellas. People place towels on sunbeds and don't appear for hours, even though we read they don't allow this. They need to in-force it somehow as we had to sit and wait for ages for one to become available. And not nearly enough umbrellas to go around unfortunately.
There is a walk into Alvor itself, taking about 10-15 mins down a small hill. A little futher to beach but we did take the free (very sweet, very slow) train once, which drops you off at the beach and picks you up throughout the day.
Overall would recommend this hotel. Staff friendly, child friendly(kids everywhere), clean and tidy. Thanks Alvor Baia :)

We here Alvor Baia aim to please and satisfy our guests and truly excel to provide an unforgettable and memorable Holiday Experience.

Thank you very much for recommending us to all other clients. Your feedback after your holidays is very important.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the lack of Sunbeds & Umbrellas. In the last few days we have bought many more umbrellas, we believe the umbrellas are now enough. The Sunbeds are indeed the ones we have. Perhaps in the future we might have some more, but it comes to a point in which we will not have more space to place them.

Looking forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Alvor, in Alvor Baia, after recommending the unit to to other Trip Advisor users.

Stayed at the Alvor Baia from 27th June to 4th July with my girlfriend, it was our first holiday together and I have to say we couldn't have picked a better place! We spent a lot of time looking for suitable places to go for young couples and made a great decision in the end, the hotel is suitable for everyone.
On arrival, we were instantly impressed with the appearance of the hotel. The hotel is so fresh and clean throughout. The modern style of the hotel is unique, the rooms are superb, very spacious with comfortable beds and bathroom facilities better than any other hotel I've been to. The balconies are also very big with lovely views whether its pool side or not.
The quality of the food was brilliant every day, each meal time we filled our plates and loved the majority of what we had! We were spoilt for choice and always wanted too much compared to what we could eat. The variety is also very good, lots of pasta dishes, always hot cooked meats and fish. Our favourite food in particular were the waffles at breakfast time, spectacular!
The pool area is also one of the best I've seen, lots of room around the pool and the pool itself is huge! Many people in previous reviews complain about how cold it is but we didn't think it was cold at all, just like any other pool, once you've been in for a couple of minutes its lovely, but this could have been down to the fact the coldest day whilst we were there was 27 degrees.
The location of the hotel was perfect, a 10 minute walk away from the main town with shops, bars and restaurants. There is a free tram that runs down to the beach, and there are a few potential day trips in close distance, there are 3 water parks in the area along with other days such as Zoo Marine. We would recommend Slide and Splash and Aquashow.
The reps Lucy and Gill were very helpful, they booked our days out and always answered any questions that we had.
There are two small negatives that we could point out with the hotel. Firstly, in the restaurant the tables were uneven and every time we sat down to eat, they were very wobbly which was annoying when cutting meats, but this is somehing we got over quickly. Secondly, the evening entertainment is very disapointing, every night there is a piano player playing the same music, we left the hotel every night and I would recommend doing the same. Although there are a good entertainment team at the hotel throughout the day running activities which kept the guests amused.
Overall the holiday was fantastic, I would recommend it to anybody and we are really hoping to head back next year.

First of it was me and my wife that stayed there ,knowing it was a family hotel , I would like to say it was fantastic for the family's , and if you don't mind a family next to you at the pool ,then go for it ,as for me I didn't mind it wasn't so bad and quite a laugh really . The hotel itself was a bit of a let down ,face value excellent , clean ,tidy . But the all inclusive ends at 11 o'clock . And the local drinks are not very good at all , lacked entertainment for adults , also the hotel is supposed to accommodate 1800 people , so the bar was queuing quite a lot ,not that it was worth it for the drinks , the pool is suitable for 300 people so need to get your self a space , the restaurant also was really good food ,but lacked in ambiance , very canteen style . Hope that helps

Room Tip: We stayed on the fourth floor but was a little walk to the one and only lifts which there was 4 , wa...

Me and my girlfriend recently stayed here for a week all inclusive, to keep it short and sweet, it's definitely suitable for any age up to 60, brilliant for kids , couples and families , the pool was brilliant and massive! The food was good although was very similar every day, the service was great , such hard working lovely people, the weather was brilliant , reaching late 30's some days, the lifeguard (Hugo) was extremely helpful, rooms really did makes feel at home and were very modern , entertainment during the day was very good , aqua aerobics , volleyball and water polo as well as dancing and other activities, drinks didn't taste cheap at all, we took the hotels free bus/train service that goes every hour to the amazing beach, took just 10minutes, sarrounding areas are good (clean and plenty to do) just overall a brilliant time , an amazing place , and we will definitely be returning as soon as possible. If your a young couple , or a family, you couldn't find a place better to go all inclusive and get your value (and more) for money.

This hotel, is probably....the one. I know a lot of hotels in Algarve, but this one is TOP.
I was there five nights with my wife and 2 kids.
The rooms are big, with a lot of space.
The food is very, very good,Amazing!!!the variety of food to suit all tastes
The service, and staff, are fantastic, extremely friendly
A lots of silence, quite, and tranquility....the best,to rest and enjoy the sun and a fabulous pool.
Much space in the interior and exterior of the hotel, where you can quietly read a book, have a drink with all the tranquility

The words mean nothing, but if you like holidays, and summer time....this is the Hotel.Late In September here we go again

We spent 11 nights here from he 16th June with two young children 2 and 4. As it was the first time abroad with the girls I was nervous. But I did need to worry at all. Some of the negatives on here we to our benefit to.

The rooms firstly are spacious and able to close off an area in the evening for the girls to sleep. A bathroom excellent with a full size bath and two shower heads over. The lower, perfect for little ones to stand under and on full power quick to run a bath. Cleaned daily and very polite cleaners.

The pool area, there is a smaller children's pool at one end which under the sun warms up nicely throughout the day. The main pool is cold, but I must say if you get yourself in its quite refreshing, just a struggle if you aim to walk in. There are plenty of sunbeds, parasols is a different story, but for 8 euros we purchased one and used it around the pool and took it to the beach.

My girls loved the train to the beach, it does get busy but the driver always made sure all got on. The beach is lovely and clean and we purchased an area with 2 beds, a side windbreak and a shade hammock over the top which sets you up the day. Also, there is a box full of buckets and spades and toys which the girls made full use of and did not have to purchase a thing.

The food. I agree with the comments of the noise in the dining room but it put my mind at ease with having young children and did not have to be on guard of them disturbing someone elses dinner. It did not matter if the children were children has this is what its set up for. Easily cleaned with each dropped crumb and spotless high chairs. There is a children's buffet area, and food that even got my picky 4 year old to eat. My husband loves fish and couldn't fault it any night. Also if the girls were not hungry at lunch or missed at snack times, there is crisps, bread, ham, cheese and some hot foods to get them by not forgetting the ice cream.

Entertainment, we never went to the evening entertainment we took evening walks into the square and the harbour. We bouncy castles 2 euros for 50minutes, other rides and my girls favourite a train with 2 carts that goes around in a circle for 1 euro. By which time, the girls were tired out. So again it was a bonus for us the all inclusive and entertainment finishes at 11 as you were assured silence. We were also in a room practically opposite the lift and close to the bar area and slept soundly each night.

The play area is fantastic for younger children with more than 8 different slides, it does get hot during the peak of the day but other than that cant fault it.

We did not take a buggy with us as we did not have any spare room in the car with luggage, but managed to get one from the Thomson reps as soon as we arrived.

Day trips, we went on the Fiesa evening trip, which is large sand sculptures in shape of music heros over the years. With a little children's section, again the girls loved seeing a huge noddy, hello kitty, mickey and Minnie and many more. You then go to a horse stables and school where both the girls we able to go horse riding in a little arena and sit back with a glass of champagne or orange juice and snacks.

Now if you love animals you must go to Zoomarina. Its brilliant with show after show of dolphins, seals, exotic birds, pirates, birds of prey. The park also has a large tank of other fish, some you can touch. There is rides and a lovely pool to cool off in to with changing facilities and lockers.

All in all a wonderful holiday for families. It is what it says it is a premier family hotel

Room Tip: All rooms get the sun at some point of the day. pool view in the morning, front rooms in the evening...

Dear Guest,

How wonderful it is to read that you enjoyed staying with us and that our team was excellent and exceeded all your expectations.

Our guests feedback is of great value to us, and this review it particularly interesting because you are focusing on the issue of the noise of the restaurant, not in a negative way, but in a way that has to be improved, but is normal that it happens like this in such an environment. - Family holidays.

Looking forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Alvor with your family.

I stayed at Alvor Baia with a group of friends. Upon arrival we were greeted by the very friendly and efficient reception staff, we then went up to our rooms and were pleasantly surprised, the rooms are huge with a lovely sitting room area, 2 TV's and nice bathroom with great power shower. We then had lunch at the buffet restaurant, the food choice was nice and varied, the only negative was it was too noisy and could be a little too warm if you were sat in the glass area, we dined in the restaurant just on the first evening and after that chose to sample the Alvor restaurants, as the buffet restaurant is OK for breakfast and lunch but no atmosphere in the evening and at times it was so noisy you could not hear each other speaking. The selection of drinks was good and found the bar staff very helpful, the bar was very busy when we went in June, so would imagine in high season it could be an issue and could benefit to another bar. The pool is huge and yes it is a little cold when you get in but as soon as you start moving it is OK, we partook in aqua gym, which was ok did lose interest half way through, the pool is large enough not be crowded and as the weather got hotter through the week so did the pool. We also tried the Senses Spa, which I highly recommend and is nice and relaxing, even if you choose just to use the spa circuit. We all enjoyed our trip to Alvor and Alvor Baia and we shall certainly be returning and I have recommended it to friends.
