We arrived in Alvor at the beginning of incredibly bad weather, water rushing down the main street, we jumped into this restaurant to save our skins. And thank god we did. The decor was very cosy, having front dining and el fresco under cover in the rear. My husband had the mussels, this was a starter however the dish was enough for a main meal. The flavour was fantastic, excellent mussels. I had the veal cappachio, beautifully presented and very flavoursome. We spent a very pleasant few hours with the very friendly staff. Overall the cost was extremely reasonable. Will return before we leave.

Just returned from Alvor and paid another visit to Adega d Alvor for the grilled prawns with Rice, we had them in July and couldn't wait to return this time for them. The rice is great and the meal is great. We had a free glass of champers on arrival which was a class touch. We returned the 2nd nite and has fab desserts. It was busy and that sometimes means service can be slow but your on holiday and the free glass of champers makes everything great!!!

Great restaurant, glass of bubbly as you sat down. Offered traditional Portuguese meze, carrots,, tuna pate, olives and shell on prawns with a selection of breads. This is offered and can be refused unlike other places where you dig in and don't realise it's on the bill. Sampled, steak, fish and lamb on 3 different visits. Staff where courteous and friendly, food superb hence the 3 visits. I had house red wine which was a high quality wine for house! Highly recommend and a good price most we spent on 3 courses was 44 euros so on current exchange around £36 fab!

We went on a Saturday night which was possibly a mistake. This very large restaurant was full and we were seated near the window looking into the kitchen. Honestly, it was not a lot bigger than a domestic kitchen. The cooks and waiters were running around non stop but we waited 50 mins for our food and when it came the fish was slightly overcooked. It's an attractive resaurant with a good atmosphere but the kitchen can't cope when it's full.

Like many others we were taken with the frontage of this restaurant and the authentic feel ! Our second last night in Alvor and with two young children we were out at 7 30 and seated before 8 with the expectation to be on our way home by 9 30 like the few other nights we ventured out ! What a disaster . We did not order starters just a bolognese for our 4 yr old , prawn curry for myself and steak for my husband . 1 hr 15 mins later , after us asking twice , our daughter got her food and then we waited another 30 mins for ours . The kids were so tired god love them and we were so stressed , that I cannot even remember eating the curry . It was small in portion size and ok not great ! A definite miss from us if anyone going to Alvor and we will not be back ! V v disappointed with only one night to go !!! ESP if you have children " walk on by "
