“Good holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2012

Had a good family holiday here at end of May/beginning of June.

Food was very good - well-cooked, nicely presented and a good selection with pleasant, efficient staff promptly clearing away used plates from the tables. Dining room had an outdoor area for choice of inside or out.

All-inclusive drinks were good - very drinkable red and white wine. They don't do "small" ports - apparently there is no such thing in Portugal - brace yourself for a large serving of extremely nice port! Husband enjoyed the brandy. Bar provide both small and large bottles of chilled water.

Spaciour bar areas to sit in during the day or in the evening. Solo and duo performances each evening - lounge music to sit and chill out to. One night, the hotel's entertainment team also did a dance routine which was very good.

Pool area had plenty of room and no problems getting a sun lounger. Towels provided. Pool rather cold and central bar not open but looked as if getting ready to open when we were leaving.

Each day, there were a couple of activities on offer - target shooting, football, volleyball, aqua aerobics etc. Well-equipped gym and jacuzzi.

All family rooms (for 4) seem to have a sea view which was lovely. Rooms very clean and comfortable with air con and efficient maid service each day. Safe costs 14 euros for one week.

Beach is only two minutes walk away. Sun loungers on beach are 10 euros per day for two. Make sure you go down to the beach at sunset for some fantastic photo opportunities. Beautiful large, sandy beach - very picturesque.

Walk to Alvor town is about 15 mins and no proper pavements for some of the way. Mostly gift shops and restaurants there, plus a few bars.

3rd June Reynolds Wolverhampton. Location and views of the beach were good although Alvor is a 20 min walk for the fit. I would advise anyone with a problem here to see the Manager who is very friendly and helpful. The hotel however is not up to four star rating as it looks tired and basic and the restaurant is more like a cafeteria with no table clothes but plastic mats. In other four star hotels that we have stayed in we found the atmosphere ambiance and furniture a lot more upmarket and inviting than at the Delfim. The food was left under heat lamps for long periods of time and was invariably luke warm. On a whole we were disappointed at the quality. The saving grace was the lovely room and views.

Visit 24th-31st May, the hotel rated at 4 star? The hotel is clean, rooms are clean and staff are friendly. The views from rooms are fantastic, great swimming pool and other facilities are OK. Disappointed with the food menu, decided to have a cooked breakfast one morning and found all the food cold, the evening selection was just basic no thought went into the menu at all. The entertainment [for a so called 4 star hotel] day and evening was terrible. I think as others have stated this hotel is geared for golfers only.

Room Tip: Up grade for a sea view and a high floor.

Was @ this hotel 12-19 May.Weather was incredibly hot for the time of year apparently.38-44 degrees.Hotel, nice enough but a bit in need of a lick of paint.Rooms are big.Staff are really nice.Food-big let down for a 4 star hotel, got the impression if it wasn't used up 1 night it was put out the next.Desserts-no flavour although the cakes looked nice. The bottled water is free in this hotel-had to pay in other A.I. hotels.Entertainment-sorry but it was rubbish, except for a young local chap playing 2 different electric guitars-he WAS good. Trips are expensive...The hotel has a capacity for 900 guests, when we were there, lucky if there was 200,maybe if it was busier thing would have been different..better food, better entertainment..who knows !!!!If you just want to sun yourself all day,it's ideal.

Great location, a bit old, but you will have a room with one priceless view
less than a couple o minutes walk from the large swimming pool to one of the best beaches you may ever know.
Food, not bad, could be better, only small issue, if crowd season, it may take awhile until you catch a free elevator, specially at peak hours.
Great for Kids and family vacations

I recently stayed at the hotel with a party of 28 golfers on an all inclusive, 5 days of golf basis. I can honestly say this was a great holiday from start to finish, the hotel was excellent the rooms all had a sea view, and the buffet style meals where top class. The five different golf courses we played were all in top class condition. The transport facilities were great and always on time each day. Considering there was 28 people on this holiday, there was not one complaint of any kind, and this hotel is worth a visit anytime.

Have just returned from a second visit to the Delfim this time with friends. Again we had a wonderful time and found the hotel to be excellent value for money. As on our visit in September last year we found that standards were very high in all areas; the rooms were clean and well maitained;the food and service in the restaurant well presented and of good quality; the general facilities and services very good.

As before the staff were very friendly right across the board any problems quickly dealt with. The evening entertainment was much the same as on our last visit and provided a pleasant background to a drink in the bar.

If I have any criticism it relates again to the ubiquitous blue poolside recliners. They have a hard nylon surface which after a time gets a bit hard on the bum; some form of pad would help greatly and could be issued from the poolside hut.

Would I return to the Delfim for a third visit? Most certainly I would. Finally if you are thinking of booking consider first Jet2Save. They again proved to be an excellent company to deal with and seem to be a cut above many other operators.

Room Tip: Go for higher levels overlooking the pool or tennis court.
