the night we visited there was a local family in whose children were running around, screaming and generally getting in everyones way, while this was not the fault of the staff it did seem to distract them from other diners, having to catch there eye for drinks and to order ect, we had no cutlery change between courses and felt that food was ok but not great.

The menu is extensive and the food and service are superb and it is very good value for money, especially the garlic breads, Lasagne and various pasta dishes. The wines are good local and Portuguese options and not expensive.

Booked a table here for 8 pm.
The restaurant has a good setting and typically pizza house feel.the staff were friendly but there just weren't enough of them (and they were keen to tell us this). Service was very slow and in the end we had to forgo our sweet as we were to tired to wait any longer.
Worth a visit , food good but just very slow.

On the first night of our family holiday in Alvor during August 2013 we were lucky to find 'Al Dente'. We decided to go there, mainly because it was close to our hotel and we were tired after travelling. On arrival at 9pm, (Friday evening), there was a long queue waiting to enter, but as we had reserved a table, we were shown in straight away. (Definitely need to book!). The waitress was friendly and efficient, bringing our drinks order quickly and smiling throughout. We liked the atmosphere, with an outdoor garden section, partly covered by a roof trellis with hanging vines and the indoor section, (where we were seated), which had an 'open kitchen', allowing us to watch food being expertly prepared.
The food itself was really good, lemon pork with creamy garlic potatoes and asparagus, delicious thin crust pizza, seafood lasagne and succulent fillet steak, were among our main choices. The house red was excellent and at 10 euros a bottle, fantastic value! Service was good with efficient staff who were friendly, but because of how busy the restaurant always seems to be, they don't have time for any small talk. This isn't a criticism at all, merely an observation of staff who were trying to make sure all their customers got what they had ordered, within a reasonable time span!
We really enjoyed Al Dente and went back for a second and equally delicious meal. Definitely recommend here, especially if you like a busy, authentic atmosphere with plenty of freshly cooked food at a reasonable price!
