Booked the two hour Dalsnibba bus tour from Geiranger on the internet months before our cruise. Booking was easy and converting the voucher into tickets was done right next to the Tender Pier. The tour ran the advertised two hours and included spectacular scenery. There was a recorded narrative playing on the bus as we traveled to and from Dalsnibba. Driver was friendly and courteous and kept to his schedule. We were given the option of leaving the bus at the top of the hill to visit some of the sites in Geiranger. The walk down was quite easy.

Thanks for you feed back. Good to hear the booking process including all the information prior to arrival and at arrival are easy to understand and work out smooth. We have been working especially on this, to make it easy for our guest to enjoy there Geiranger Experience. As our office is right at the harbor just 30 meter from the tender pier and all our tours starting right here – we think we can provide you with easy access.

I used this company for the trip to the top of Mt. Dalsnibba, and also did the afternoon fjord boat ride, during our one day cruise stop. Their office is right at the tender dock, and the service was wonderful.

Even though the weather deteriorated during the day, and it was raining during our boat tour, I was glad we did it. Coming into the fjord in the morning on our cruise ship was amazing, but you get a different view of the fjord from a small boat. I just wish the weather had been nicer.

I posted some photos from Dalsnibba with my bus ride review on Trip Advisor.

Geiranger is breathtaking, from the entrance to the fjord to the heights of the surrounding mountains. I would go again in a heartbeat if it wasn't so expensive and far.

The Geiranger fjord was one of our highlights on our cruise trip along the coast of Norway. It is a spectacular nature site with stunning waterfalls and mountains all around you. The village itself is very small and pretty and you will easy find your way around. Unfortunately on days with big cruise ships it is also very busy.
Right on the pier you will find the tourist information and the ticket offices. From there you can choose different options for activities in and around the fjord. We managed to get on the first bus of the day to the highly recommended Dalsnibba Mountain. On the 40min drive up the winding and stunning serpentine road to the view point we could already get a great gasp of the nature around the fjord. The landscape changed dramatically from green hillsides and small farms to rural rock and mountain formations. One of the highlight was the crystal clear mountain lake Djupvatnet that suddenly stretched in front of us just before you will drive up the toll road to Dalsnibba.
On top of the mountain you will find the viewing point overlooking the neighbour mountains and the fjord. We were lucky as we had clear sky and the view was simply amazing! The bus ride was exciting due a lot of narrow parts of the roads and a lot of curves, but our driver did a great job and we felt entirely safe. The bus was comfortable and achieved the expected standards and for around 35€ for the tour including the toll fee it is a good deal!
After the 2h trip to Dalsnibba we still had some time to spend and decided to do a tour with the sightseeing boat M/S Geirangerfjord. Being on a smaller boat then a cruise ship gave us the opportunity to get closer to the sights of the fjord and to take great pictures. The waterfalls are absolutely amazing so are the stories about the fjord farms and myth of the fjord. The boat has an audio guide in different languages with interesting comments. There is an inside and outside area and a little shop where they offered coffee and snacks.
Overall we had a great day in Geiranger exploring the fjord on land and water. There are a variety of tours offered at the ticket offices like a shorter bus trip to the viewing points and a Viking ship which look like a lot of fun but was unfortunately already booked out.

Thanks for your comments and the picture. You did all the “Must-Do things” in Geiranger in ONE day, Fjord and Fjell (which means ‘mountain’ in Norwegian). The contrast of coming to Geiranger by cruise ship, driving up to 1500 meters above sea level on a small narrow road in a public bus, giving you the stunning views high above the fjord, and then within an hour from being on top of the world, getting up close and personal with the spectacular waterfalls on one of our fun excursion boats (Sightseeing boat, RIB boat or Viking ship) - it truly is unique in the world to be able to do this in one day.
From 2013 we will offer a special ticket on our website to combine this experience of FJORD AND MOUNTAIN in one day. Geiranger ticket Fjord and fjell.
Thanks again.

Geirangerfjord is truly spectacular. There are many incredible viewpoints to which you can either walk or drive. However, I feel that you also need to see it from the water in order to take in its full dramatic beauty.

You can book boat trips via the Geiranger Fjordservice, a building in the centre of Geiranger which also includes the tourist information centre. The ladies there are wonderful, so helpful and friendly.

Unfortunately, since our visit was out of season, there was only a limited number of services available. However, we were able to go on a trip on the sightseeing boat. One of the good things about travelling at a quieter time of year is that there were only a few other people onboard with us, meaning that it was easy to see everything. Mind you, the boat travels there and back along the fjord so that you should get a good view of one side on the way there and the other on the way back, even if the quota of passengers is fairly full.

The sedate pace means that you have plenty of chances to photograph the wonderful views. There is also a commentary in different languages (Norwegian, English, French and German on our boat) to explain more about what you are seeing. We were lucky enough to see a porpoise alongside our boat for a few minutes during the voyage.

As well as the amazing scenery, you can also see isolated and abandoned farms, perched precariously along the steep sides of the fjord. It is even possible to arrange to be dropped off at the base of one of these old farms, Skageflå, in order to climbe up to it and either be picked up later at a designated time or to visit the farm and then walk all the way back to the town of Geiranger.

We loved the chance to see the fjord from the water and can certainly recommend a trip via Geiranger Fjordservice.
