Villa Poggio di Gaville
Certificate of Excellence

Jamal and his wife Louise are fantastic hosts who complement each other beautifully. Jamal is a gourmet chef and Louise the perfect hostess. Together they ensure that their guests are warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. My family and I spent a wonderful week at Villa Poggio di Gaville last month and especially enjoyed each meal we had there. We are convinced Jamal makes the best croissants in the world that set your day off to great start and his 4 course dinners on the villa's terrace are a treat to be savoured. Jamal even went out of his way to make delicious vegetarian food for my wife although she was the only vegetarian guest at that time. All said and done we did find the dinner at €30 per head to be a tad expensive.
The Villa also has a nice swimming pool in a little valley surrounded by trees and feeding the wild horses that have made the property their home is a unique experience.
We'd love to go back to Villa Poggio di Gaville sometime.

Booked a three night stay while on vacation around Florence. B&b was very clean, hospitable and well priced what we did not expected was the four courses table d'hôte menu that was also offered. Jamal the owner prepares each night a four courses menu for 30 Euros that is excellent in flavours, portion sizes and textures. Definitively it is now one of my favourite place to eat and gives me one more reason to come back to Tuscany.

A truly wonderful, relaxing holiday was enjoyed by the whole family. We rented the entire villa for a week for 28 of us and could not have asked for a more beautiful setting - all ideas of taking trips to neighbouring cities and villages were abandoned as we were more than happy to spend our days in the pool and our nights on the terrace. I would love to go back someday.

Room Tip: On hot summer days the best rooms were downstairs at the back (overlooking the pool) - as there is n...

Highlight for me was the food, the service and the international flavour of the guests. The evening meal was an event in itself with Jamal producing speciality baked breads and dips as well as delicately aromatic main courses and amazing pasta. Gaville was much more than just a hub from which to visit the beautiful surrounding area- it contributed to much of the delight of the holiday.

Room Tip: The room with the terrace allows you to spread out more and enjoy the surrounding countryside.

We arrived at Villa Poggio having spent a week in rural South Tuscany on another Agriturismo ready for the more sophisticated vibe of Chianti and Florence. As a counter to ubiquitous Renaissance beauty the eclectic style and variety of the furniture and decoration was a delightful surprise. Gaville is a good launch point from which to explore the region of Chianti and get to Florence (by train from Figline Valdarno - 40mins free parking). The high point of our stay 'tho was Jamals sublime cooking and wine selections. A wonderful blend of Italian staples but with a subtle eastern interpretation. He is a relaxed host and an informed guide to the area. Our evening meals were friendly and encouraged good converstion with a very mixed International bunch. We hope we have made friends for life.

Room Tip: Try for the 2 rooms on floor 1 with a terrace.

We got a little lost on our way as we went to the wrong address from the website And ended up at the accountants office but once we found our way what a delight it was. Some of the best cooking we had on our italian road trip. The pool was the cleanest clearest water and our room was lovely. Jamal and his assistant were welcoming and a pleasure and as said the food was superb!!! Couple of things that would make the rooms even better - a ceiling fan, a small minibar fridge with waters and juices and a glass shower screen instead of the curtain. The communal areas were perfect, the views were wonderful and the food, oh the food!!!

We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2013 and had a thoroghly enjoyable time. The agriturismo has lots of decorative ornaments collected from all over the world. The accommodation was very clean in a peaceful location. We had lovely breakfasts and evening meals accompanied by a wide selection of wines and liquers. Jamal the owner is very friendly and helpful with the best way to go to places. As a suggestion it is better to park at a local train station free of station and catch the train to Florence. We would definitely stay here again.
