With a street-level bar and pleasant basement restaurant this is a popular venue for cocktails or a meal.We were lucky to get a table late at night and were warned that service would be slow (it was!) in the crowded ,but smallish restaurant. Everyone was friendly, however, and the atmosphere was all bustling local clientele.
Food was of a high standard with a stand-out being artichokes with Parmesan and truffle-sheer heaven!
An aubergine flan, local sausages and tortelloni were all very good.
Around 50 euros for two with bottle of wine.

The location in the heart of Ostuni is very handy, with the restaurant having a lovely interior that surprises you when you enter. The service was great, explanations of all your dishes are provided, with the food being very good quality too. Highly recommended.

Stopped in for a late light lunch in mid June. The owners welcomed us into what first appeared to be a small, marble floored room. As we entered, to our delight, we were ushered down the stairs into a 1,100 year old olive mill -- which is a naturally cool and artificially, well lit cave. Our meal included slow roasted artichokes with black truffles and parm. An usual and, in our view, winning combination. Local olive oil abounds which translates to having a bottle delivered to the table to do your own doctoring of dishes as you like. Sformatino of eggplant and a fresh and light tomato sauce followed. We shared a plate of red head on shrimps crusted with salt from Galipoli (a town not far from Ostuni), famous for these shrimp. Finally, we finished with a large mixed salad of local lettuces, Italian cucumbers & small queen tomatoes. The service was very good and overall, we were impressed with the flavors, freshness, creativity and setting of this little jewel in Ostuni. (hint: there are many)

My wife and I wandered in here for an early lunch. We walked through the bar and were pleasantly surprised to enter the lovely dining room in the cave below. We were the only diners present and the owner helped us order while waiting for the waitress to arrive for work (long hours, as they close at 1 a.m.). We started with an outstanding dish of slow-roasted artichokes with parmesan cheese and olive oil. Then we split a great orrichete pasta with brocoli rape and anchovies, followed by the broiled fish of the day and washed down with a generous glass of primitivo (zinfandel in California).

Wonderful lunch with very pleasant and engaging service!
