“La Terrazza - lovely apartment with sensational views”
Reviewed November 25, 2012 for a stay in November 2012

After a disasterous stay in another part of Puglia we were rescued by our stay at La Terrazza. At the last minute Angela and Tim agreed to open up the apartment for us although it was officially closed for November. The apartment at the top of the building was beautifully furnished and well equipped with sensational views from the roof terrace over Ostuni old town. Our thanks to Jane, the onsite manager for all her help including turning on the heating a couple of hours before our arrival and being on hand for any queries we had. It was really useful having a local agent on hand.

“Casa Esmeralda - small but (almost) perfectly formed”
Reviewed November 12, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

When you open the front door of Casa Esmeralda, in its steep street of little white-washed houses, all you see is a near-vertical flight of stairs. But don't be daunted: drag your bags up the stairs and you reach the charming living area, with long dining table, sofa/divan and chairs and tiny cooking alcove off. The higher you climb, the lovelier it gets. Up you go, past the main double bed (very comfortable), out onto a large terrace and up onto the roof, with spectacular views across the rooftops to the cathedral. Beyond are countless olive trees and the distant line of the sea.
But perhaps it would be wiser to pause in the living area first, where you'll find a welcome pack that includes prosecco and delicious local bread. You'll also find as many instructions and tips as you could possibly need on matters ranging from restaurants to beaches, from what to visit to how to get around. We hired a car, parked it free 5 minutes away, and explored Puglia, from Otranto to Taranto to Trani. But you can spend happy days just wandering around Ostuni on foot, pausing every now and then to eat or drink before returning to snooze on the terrace.
We invited three friends to stay for a few days. They loved it and were very understanding about bathroom discipline etc but the space is small, the downstairs loo and washbasin tiny and some of the ceilings quite low. (Our tallest friend developed rather a stoop!)
Ideally, Casa Esmeralda is for a couple, or a couple and two good friends, or a couple and two or three children of eight upwards. The stairs are too steep and tricky for young children or people with limited mobility.
Tim and Angela Devlin, who own the Casa Esmeralda and three flats in the next street, are about to improve the upstairs bathroom (putting in a new shower) and the kitchen area so next year this lovely place will be even better.

“Casa Esmeralda - Quirky and perfect location”
Reviewed October 6, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

Casa Esmeralda is cute and quirky and in an ideal location. We couldn't have picked a nicer place to stay in beautiful Ostuni. The views from the top terrace are to die for.
Tim and Angela are really helpful and they left us a welcome pack of a bottle of Prosecco and some lovely bread amongst other things.

“'Just Wonderful'”
Reviewed August 6, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Our stay at the beautiful Casa Esmeralda was just wonderful. The house was beautiful the weather marvellous and Ostuni and its people could not be better. The town is great during the day for sight seeing and is well placed if you want to go further afield or just to the beach. In the evening there are a large number of very good restaurants who's owners are always pleased to see you and work hard to ensure you enjoy your evening. Tim and Angela are happy to point you in the right direction depending on your taste. A fabulous holiday.

“Perfection!”
Reviewed August 6, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

You can't improve on it so why try?! This was our sixth holiday in Ostuni - all with the beautiful La Terrazza as our base. Don't think I need to say any more! (But shhhh! Let's keep it a secret in case too many people find out how stunning are the apartment, views from the terrace at the top of world and hospitality of the owners, Tim and Angela!)

See you again next year!

“Casa Esmeralda-nice place”
Reviewed July 31, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

Ostuni is one of the most beautifull cities in Puglia. Apartment has a perfect location, great views from upper terrace. A little bit of climbing upp and down in the house, not for old people and small children.

“Just what we were looking for...”
Reviewed July 31, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

When we arrived at L'Alcova in Ostuni we were over the moon with what welcomed us. From the beautifully decorated rooms to the welcoming loaf of bread, butter, fresh preserves and bottle of Prosecco, we knew we had landed another winner. Ostuni is delightful, it is very lovely during the day but comes to life in the evening! We were travelling with our 6 year old daughter who learnt very quickly to stay up late! I could go on for pages about this place but I won't, all I will note is:

1. Don't worry about bringing beach towels as they are included
2. Don't come to Ostuni expecting spaghetti bolognaise and garlic bread! The Puglian food is very different and they love their pizza!
3. If you have young ones with you, head for the beaches. There is a great water park (not very big) called Acqua In that is suitable for all ages.
4. Don't leave Ostuni without trying 'Rocher' gelato from Caffee Garibaldi. It is the best thing I have EVER tasted!

Last but not least, the owners of this fabulous building, Tim and Angela were delightful. They couldn't do enough for us and we even ended up in their place having Prosecco and a chat one evening, leading to an invitation to Tim's birthday dinner! Lovely people and a lovely town. We will definitely return again but probably for a romantic week together and not with our 6 year old!
