Eolian Islands trip will not be complete without a climb of Vulcano. The attractions is free of charge and takes around an hour and a half upwards, an hour wondering around at the top and the same on the way down. Bring water and a camera :-) No food at the top, but a small shack with orange juice after around 200m. BRING GOOD SHOES as the gravel might be slippery, though the walk itself is quite easy (while steep).

Views are amazing, the vulcano is a fascinating sight - with smoke still coming through. Don't worry to get close, it doesn't burn.

Ones must visit this place. The hill is not tall but somewhat sleep. Remember to bring your hiring boots. It takes around one hour to reach the crater. Ones can enjoy spectacular views over Vulcano and Lipari.

This place can be included in your day-trip from Lipari.

If you are on Vulcano, this is definitely something you must do!

I was recently on the island for the second time, so I already knew the hike up was well worth the effort. My family were a bit more sceptic. When looking up from afar, they had difficulties believing my word that it is only a 50 minute hike up.
Going up, my dad (65 yrs and with a bad knee) took it at his own speed, made lots of stops on the way - and made it all the way up! My youngest nephew (8 yrs) complained a bit on the way up. But once we reached the top, all hardships were forgotten.

The view from there is absolutely amazing, and the fumeroles definitely something. The smell is not so pleasant when you come close, but it is thrilling to see how they depose a layer of bright yellow. And looking straight into a vulcanic crater is exciting too.

So, no matter what shape you're in, do yourself the favour - hike all the way to the crater.

Great trip up vulcano wandering in and amongst the fumeroles of steaming sulphur. A bit smelly but then we knew that and a nice walk up to the summit showing spectacular views of the neighbouring islands. Brilliant walk. Get up there early in the morning to avoid the guided tours as stated below and take plenty water.

It was quite a tedious walk up to the crater but thoroughly worth the effort. The panoramic views was absolutely amazing.
