I visited Parikia, and enjoyed a very nice walk around the town, and evening meal before heading onto Ios the next day. Very relaxing to enjoy a walk around.

The town just wasn't up to much, not a right lot to do there really. To say Paros is coined as the gateway to the Cyclades it certainly doesn't inspire fond memories and certainly doesn't set high standards.

This is the 6th Cycladic island we have been to and is certainly the worst. The food is just average, the beaches are just okay and the live of the island is tame. The highlight of our stay here was in fact going to anti arose which i definitely recommend. This is the only island we have encountered touting too, very annoying and off-putting.

My advice to any potential visitors is to go straight to Naxos and get a day boat to Paros, there is no comparison between the two islands. Naxos simply blows this place away!

I very nearly rated this 3 but on reflection 2 and half is more appropriate, therefore it had to get a 2......

Parikia is a very charming town. I have been here several times in the summer, and this was my first visit in the winter. The town is not as busy but you can find few boutiques open to buy local stuff, and jewelry, and pottery and meet the artist. Then, you can enjoy a nice meal at Limoni's Taverna. The secret is that this place continues to function during the winter. I even joined the local gym, which offers Pilates, Yoga, Hip-hop, and many other classes during the winter.

It's by no means a given that you'll find a setting quite like this in the Greece of 2012, where huge resorts dominate and the character and charm of the islands have been hammered senseless by mass tourism. Parikia has thankfully escaped this awful invasion. It's just fabulous, and the locals are charming and big-hearted and seem to genuinely enjoy having visitors around. I would go back any time - it's the real deal.
