“Small Luxury of the World but No Luxury at all....”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

I have staid at Yria for 10 days during August. We thought we would have a quiet time there after 2 weeks in the islands when it is so busy.
First thing you want in the morning is to have breakfast - Useless at Yria, no fresh fruit - Sometimes no butter ! Ridiculous buffet and if you want to have a freshly squeeded orange juice, it is 6 Euros extra.
Restaurant - is the most awfull food I have ever had in Greece and prices were were outrageaous. Don't speak about the time it takes to be served even if you are alone in that odd restaurant.
Rooms - You ask for a terrace but eve ryone is passing by - No intimity at all and at 6pm,when everyone comes from the beach, you can hear all your neighbours noises, hairdryers...
Drinks - More expensive than Cafe de Flore in Paris or Dorchester in London
Globally, no service for that price so better to go in a poor 50 Euros studio in a better surrounding areas rather than paying 300 Euros for this supposed luxury hotel.
At last, the web site is misleading - No boutique even for the minimum sanitary stuff and no newspaper at all.
Will never come back again

We (a family of three) have spent 10 days there at the end of July 2013: well located, good infrastructure, nice swimming pool more like 3/4 stars . But no more.
Beyond the breakfast and its very limited menu, you don't feel like being in an hotel, still less in a 5 stars. No lunch/dinner service unless by exception , no activity suggested at the reception desk, no kid activity. Just a few non professionnal / multi tasks white-dressed employees for limited services to the few clients spending some time in the hotel.
A ghost like manangement too: we asked to meet the general manager to find a solution to a commercial issue: not possible!
Will this hotel wake up some day? We won't return unless there is a real management change. We will be interested to know if it happens someday..

Staff was fantastic, eager to accommodate and make stay wonderful. The grounds are very nice and cared for. The pool is very nice. Our room was nice and well taken care of and quiet. The food for breakfast was very good.

We liked the location, as it seemed pretty central to get anywhere. We'd very highly recommend renting a car. We did, and honestly could not have imagined getting around the island without it. The beach by the hotel was not very good, so we drove to others that were great (Golden Beach and Santa Maria were our favorites). Parikia is kind of a sleepy town; there are a couple good bakeries there. If you want to be in walking distance to restaurants and a bit more lively of an area, stay in Naussa (definitely check out the loukamades shop here - just ask, people will know). The drive there (and around the island) though is very easy; there is also a port area fairly near the hotel (again, I'd say you need to drive there).

We absolutely loved Paros. It is a really pretty island and a pleasure to drive around and explore. Not overly developed. We used Europcar, who was very easy to deal with. We went the end of May 2013, just the beginning of the tourist season so a lot of things were still closed, so it was a very quiet trip but perfect for us (felt like we had our own private beaches, which we're sure are more crowded during the peak seasons).

One night our electricity was out when we got back to our room - strange - we went over to reception (which is a 30 second walk, if that; and right by breakfast and the pool). It was fixed within maybe 15 minutes (the owner had to come and fiddle with things, but did so quickly and felt badly). Normally something like this would bother us, but honestly, it was taken care of promptly and you could tell they were embarrassed, so it was fine (would have been nicer had they done something to recognize it after, but it's fine).

Also, the most bothersome aspect was the water temperature in the shower. It never got very hot, and would get really cold on and off.

I would recommend this hotel.

My friend had picked this hotel and I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived in this little piece of heaven right by the beach in Paros. The beach was about 3 minutes walking distance but you could also see it from the room. The beach was one of the best, by the way and was especially nice in the mornings when there was almost no one there. The reception area was overlooking the pool, which was large enough and had a separate place for children. The room was beautifully decorated and had a spacious terrace overlooking the sea. I loved how green it was everywhere! The staff was wonderful and always smiling. Great job with the cleaning I must admit. The breakfast was ok but I didn't eat in any of the restaurants of the hotel. Ask the reception to call you a cab and go to the downtown area where there are plenty of great restaurants. Would definitely recommend this hotel if your budget allows :)

It is very rare to have your expectations exceeded when arriving at a seaside hotel. Usually we all know what we are in for. This place looked fine on the internet but it never emitted any of the positive energy this beach resort has to offer. The resort is actually approximately 300 meters from the beach and it is a lovely walk to an amazing beach. One of the best on the island with a great little restaurant on it. From the welcoming staff at the lobby you realise that this is more of a family run business than a typically staffed hotel. Mr. Stephanides, a CYpriot in origin, became our personal friend and advisor. His pleasant and 'gossipy' personality made him a very pleasant encounter on the grounds of the hotel and he always had something interesting to say or suggest.
The hotel is spread out nicely on this fine piece of property. The gardens are nicely done and there are healthy palm trees all over the place. The hotel has a main pool right in front of the lobby where you will spend much time sunbathing, enjoying the pool or having drinks at sunset. There is also a spa which is somewhat remotely located on the other end of the grounds. There is a small gym there but also a very interesting black-tiled outdoor pool. You rarely encounter anybody there so it is a great place to hang out and relax. As far as dining goes I have to admit that we didnt have dinner or lunch on location during any of our 7 days spent at the resort. Our vacation was based more on exploring the island and dining at different locations day & night. We had breakfast once and it was pretty good and we had cocktails and drinks daily and those I would rate as high as 9/10. However their only restaurant is overlooking the pool and is right next to the bar where you tend to spend most of your day so it is not really attractive to walk a few steps further and spend even more time in the same area... The rooms are simple but very comfortable. The only negative was that up until last year the air conditioning units were from the 70s or 80s so they made a lot of noise during operation. Overall a great vacation experience!

Room Tip: Anywhere on the plot should be fine, opt for a ground villa near the lobby.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and kids (aged 4 & 1) in Aug 2012 and we had a fantastic time, the most special thing about Yria is that there is incredible beauty everywhere you look; the hotel is made up of a main building and lots of smaller houses divided into apartments, ours was on the 1st floor and had a lovely terrace with views over the courtyard and the bay. All the buildings are white typical Cyclades architecture, there is an increible variety of plants and flowers everywhere and the maintenance of the whole resort is excellent. The most beautiful part was definitely the swimming pool area, the pool itself is very large and there is a smaller area just for kids.. Around the pool is a large green area with palm trees and the views over the pay of Parosporos are just amazing.. If you want to go and be by the sea, the beach of Parosporos is 3 minutes away by foot and it's a lovely organized beach with a couple of good tavernas and a lovely bar.. The location was fabolous being just 5 minutes by taxi to Paros centre .. Our accommodation at Yria consisted of a large bedroom and a bathroom which for a family of 4 is not ideal but we made a last minute booking and that was their availability. For a family planning to go there I would recommend enquiring about larger apartments. The hotel is very expensive but we felt it was worth every penny .. the only thing we would change is the restaurant where, although the food was good enough, the prices were way too excessive .. We had a fantastic time..

Absolutely beautiful hotel, visually stunning and immaculate service. We were upgraded to a fabulous room with vine-covered terraces and gorgeous views to the sea. The pool was perfect and the gardens to die for. Easy stroll to a great beach with an equally great taverna. My only gripe, as from other reviewers, is the price of anything additional here. There are no coffee-making facilities in the room (as is common in Greece), and a coffee from the bar cost 6 euros. Bar and mini bar prices are equally high - but forewarned is forearmed - we took a travel kettle and cups and made our own coffee, and there's nothing to stop you buying a bottle of wine from the nearby town and drinking it on your terrace. So overall, really recommended, particularly if you can get a good deal and an upgraded room as we did. We returned from our holiday wonderfully relaxed - well looked after and luxuriously pampered.
