“Really good stay !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2014

I stayed here just for two nights and found it really good.
I was supposed to be in a four bed dorm room but because it wasn't too busy the owners put me in a twin bed room with only me staying in it . Had a clean bathroom with hot water . A kitchen type area with sink and a mini fridge . I got free towel use and lockers were in the room as well .
They even included the free transfer from the port.
Overall I was very happy with my stay and would recommend this place .

We were a couple plus a friend that wanted to go to Greece and just have a good time, relax and chill out. We found Ampeli Apartments on a website, and booked thru them, but when we arrived on Paros it was obvious that what we paid and for what we felt that we got, it wasn't really worth it.

Paros is an island that has it's main income based upon tourism, and the season starts in June and finishes mid August. This also means that there are so many hotels, studio apartments, rooms and such for rent, that actually putting in some time to find a cheap place will be well invested time. Make sure that you get ferry tickets to PAROS and not POROS, there is apparently a big difference, a 180 euro and one less night at your hotel difference to be exact.

We called ahead and told the manager that we would come a day late, because we lost our boat to the island, and they were very helpful and arranged transportation from the port to the hotel for us. The apartment was fairly big, had a small kitchen including a sink, a fridge and two cooking plates, as well as some plastic cups, cutlery and plates and a water-boiler and a casserole. The bathroom was small, but had the essentials, shower, toilet and a sink. One thing you should know when going to Greece, especially the islands is that the plumbing in Greece is ancient, and can't handle the overload of toilet paper being thrown in the toilet, so you have to throw it in a garbage next to the toilet. Keep this in mind when you're looking for rooms, because the garbage is only emptied whenever you have room-service.

We had room-service every third day, but we felt that it would have been good with every second day, mainly because the trash that we threw the used toilet paper in started to smell and got full very quickly. The beds were very hard, but the sheets were changed every time they came in our room. We had to request more toilet paper twice because the cleaning lady didn't bring any new rolls. She also didn't sweep the floors, and seeing as how the apartment is close to the beach we dragged in quite a bit of sand during our two weeks.

Because of the heat during the day, and that we slept till past noon we always had the AC on because it would be unbearable to be there if not. During the night though it became quite cold so we asked for some more blankets to have in our room, as we only found one in the cupboard. I'd recomend that you don't use the blankets though, because we ended up having several bites on our legs, backs and arms. We're sure that the bugs and bites came from the blankets, because our friend sleeping on the single-bed didn't use her blanket till midway thru the vacation, and it was after that, that she also started getting bitten.

If you're a light sleeper I would recommend you to go elsewhere, the AC and the fridge was making so much sound that I barely slept. The fridge sometimes sounded like it was about to explode, and then would stop working as if it had died. The only thing I loved about that was that it finally shut up, and that meant that I had about five minutes to fall asleep before it started working again. The manager lives in the hotel with her two or three kids, and there were always friends over playing, shouting and making a lot of noise so that didn't really help us sleeping either. Also the beds are SOO hard, so not very comfortable.

Otherwise, don't let the professional photos fool you. The front garden was actually the managers dogs yard, where the poor dog was let for the entire two weeks we were there. Once I saw it fes not only the leftovers from the previous days food that she also serves, but in the pan it was cooked in... Needless to say, we didn't eat there. The garden was brown, full of dog poo, and no pretty flowers or open gardens as the photos show. It also looked like the hotel was under building or that they had never completed building because it looked trashed outside and when you went into the reception you could see a massive open room that looked like it was pulled straight out from a horror-movie.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, that'll be the best thing about your room.

We found a good bargain on the net, 200 Euro for 5 nights. There are two Ampeli establishments, Ampeli 1 and Ampeli 2. We stayed at Ampeli 2, it’s in a good location close to the center and the seafront road. A friendly girl picked us up from the airport at no extra charge and she was very helpful with her tips and information about the island.
The small room we stayed at had just the basic equipment, a refrigerator, a very small tv an air conditioning unit and a hair dryer, there was no kitchen or any other utensils. There was an old computer with free internet in the reception/common area but it rarely connects to the internet...! The shower had very bad drainage and the toilet flush was very weak, … it does not dispose of the waste!
It was a quiet neighborhood most of the time but one night the downstairs neighbors were making noise until 4 am, even my earplugs could not withstand it!
I don’t recommend it for people who have an issue with cleanliness; they chance our towels only the third day after we left them on the floor.

I had a reasonably poor experience at Ampeli Studios.
On arrival, there was no water in any of the rooms - not just hot water, but any water! Once the water began functioning a few hours later, drainage in the shower was so poor that a small flood remained for a good ten minutes after each shower.
The room and bathroom were unfortunately littered with small moths - an unpleasant surprise whist reading under a light in bed each night!
The reception desk in Ampeli (2nd building) was seldom attended.
Otherwise, the room was adequate enough, but these faults were hard to look past. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Where to begin with this place?! Myself and 5 of my friends, booked a SIX bed room apartment, and when we arrived, we were dumped at a building and given 2 rooms. There was no wifi, no kitchen area, and no one ever at reception, which was promised. We felt isolated and deserted!

We were all greatly disappointed with the way the manager dealt with our concerns and issues too. My friend rang on the first day, expressing our issues and even though we were just asking for what we had booked, we were ignored.

The only person we managed to speak to was the CLEANER! who had no sympathy and made us feel guilty.

There are two Ampeli studios, but they basically placed us in this empty building, because they assumed we wouldn't make an issue or speak up. But we had friends at the other studio, so we knew that we had just been ripped off.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Ruined our visit to Paros!!

We chose this accommodation because of its rates.
After our stay my opinion is that price was good, but its studios are very basic, not so cosy than photos on the website and the small kitchen area was not well equipped.
This apartments house is in a small, quiet street around 10-15 minutes walking distance from the port. The apartment house is basic and unfortunately it doesn't have nice garden with flowers.
The owners was very helpful and port pick-up was great.
There are computers with free internet in the common area.
