We visited Paros from May 21st to Jun 1st 2009 and stayed at the Sunrise Apartments. We have two girls aged 9 and 6 and we have a perfect family room overlooking Naoussa bay. It consists of two separate bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen area and balcony. What suprised us was that the apartment is geared to self cater - (not that we did) yet it felt like a hotel because the room was tidied and towells changed every day. Breakfast was included and conisted of fresh bread (with a selection of jams and butter), coffee, orange juice and lemon drizzle cake. The weather was just gorgeous the whole time to we always eat outside in the pretty courtyard. The children also enjoyed the Tortoise they keep here. They also have Internet access and I'm typing this now at the end of our stay here. (Also handy for charging the iPod)
It's low season at this time - so we literally have the place to ourselves (although I guess it could have 20 rooms). Despite being low season - all the Tavernas are open but perhaps lacking a little in atmosphere because there are few people dining. It's not cheap though. Currently the Euro is about 1:1 with the pound and we are easily spending 60Euros at the evening meal.
Naoussa Centre is 5-10 minutes walk away. It's pretty port and narrow alleys are delightful. There are a lot of beaches on Paros - but they aren't that easy to get to without a car. That said - I think the best for us was Kolybithres - which can be reached by a 10 minute boat ride from Naoussa. It's small but if you have kids it's perfect.
In terms of food all the Tavernas basically have the same menu. We found that after a while we were craving chilli. It's impossible to get unless you drive out to Tao's. Car cost 25 euros@ day.
But our best recommendation came from Ivan. Ivan is a canadian who's lived here since the eighties and runs Kokou horse riding (15 min drive from Naoussa). Fantastic experience was had just going for an hours walk (no trotting) on the horses in the early evening sun. Anyway - Ivan recommended a restaurant in Marpissa. It's on the main road, at an intersection and opposite a pattiserie. Not sure of the name - but its the only one. It clearly is not on the tourist trial - but has easily been our best meal here. The steak was to die for!!! Well recommended.
All in all - a fabulous holiday - but not cheap.
