“Very pleasant stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

Stayed at the Pinger for three nights last week on a Treyn Holidays Railways of the Rhine break, which was in itself a great trip, four retired professionals on the `boys` weekend away.

The hotel is literally twenty steps from the railway station so no problem with dragging your luggage around the town! The small town centre with several pleasant small shops, supermarket, etc is also just round the corner, and the Rhine promenade with a few restaurants and bars 2/300 yards away, five minutes walk. Remagen itself is a pleasant town and the hotel is a good base for visiting the Rhine. There has been some critisism about train noise, but our room 111 at the back was absolutely fine even with the window open, just the background sound of the odd overnight freighter passing through, so no worries there.

A three star hotel which was better than we expected, very clean throughout, very attentive service as soon as you walk through the door, functional bedrooms with free Wifi, BBC1 news, clean, very comfortable beds with nice white sheets and duvet. Bathroom with shower, plenty of hot water, nice towels and top quality toilet paper!

Dinner at night was varied with limited choice but nicely cooked decent fare by a cook rather than a chef, but absolutely no complaints at all. Likewise continental breakfast was good, meats, cheese, cereals, scrambled and boiled egg, hot croissants and decent coffee. Staff were very attentive at all times and very pleasant with good English spoken.

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel at all, and would happily go again. I cannot understand some reviewers critisising the place relating to certain things - no toiletries is the room, no fresh fruit, etc - it is a three star hotel not the Ritz!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter as it is so close to the station.

The Hotel is located immediately across the road from the railway station, travelling by train could not be easier. Our front, first floor room overlooked the front terrace with tables and chairs and had direct views of the station. The room had double glazed opening windows with net curtains for privacy. There were were two sets of windows which made the room very light and airy. With the windows closed, some train noise could be heard. The local trains were reasonably quiet, the fast, less frequent trains a little nosier and the occasional freight train nosier. We closed the windows at night, used the wall mounted air cooler with built in pollen filter and slept well as a result. The room was large, with comfortable beds and was clean. The shower and toilet room had been nicely refurbished. The restaurant food was good and plentiful. All the staff were friendly, polite, helpful and extremely good. Much to our shame, they all spoke English. We were staying at the hotel as tour members with Treyn holidays who operate from the UK and use the hotel for this purpose. Michael and Leonard Pinger, the owners of the hotel, organise trips in conjunction with Treyn. Leonard accompanied us on one of our trips to a vineyard and was good company, Michael gave us a walking tour around Remagen one evening. Remagen is a pleasant small nicely set out town with a good promenade alongside the Rhine. We enjoyed our stay there.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms at the rear. Bottled water in the room is not complimentary. We had room 101. There is...

We recently went for a short break to Germany with the holiday group Just Go, we decided to take this trip which was called Little Railways of The Rhine, we stayed at the Pinger Hotel in Remagen.a nice very clean and friendly hotel, we were all made to feel welcome by the owners,Leonard and Micheal Pinger, the two brothers,,the food was all of good quality, and fresh albeit buffet .there was never a shortage of anything .The rooms were all very clean and compact ,with a god sized wet room and excellent shower The staff.were all very polite and friendly, nothing was too much for them
This hotel is very niceley situated within 5 minutes walk of the Rhine and its splended water front and resturaunts and bars, shops were just minutes from the hotels is Remagen Railway Station,Whilst on our holiday we went out to visit , Dragon Rock on the small rack and pinion railway, we also took a visit to Linz a small town built on the banks of the Rhine , again very pretty
and everywhere was so clean and fresh (no litter hanging around ) The locals were all very friendly.we then went up to the Eifel Mountains and Brohl Lutzing, the views were fantastic and so peaceful you could hear a pin drop, there seemed to be a lack of birds though., The Ahr Valley was a small village, we then went on by train to Mayschoss where we took a ride on the wine wagons up and through the vineyards, the long western style ( cowboy ) wagons were pulled by two heavy
horses, then came the wine tasting,a very interesting talk and testing ,no pushing you to buy just a pleasant all round atmosphere ,a trip to Cologne and its beautiful Cathedral was another day, a definate tourist area which even had the Tourist Gift Shop, the Lynt Chocolate Factory is yet another place alongside the Rhine,,we took advantage of the god weather and took several short trips along the Rhine on different boats,so relaxing ,and if you do go there is the Remagen Museum and remains of the bridge of Remagen.back at our hotel ,dinner and a nice stroll back down the Rhine to watch the sun go down, I hope my review helps those considering this hotel and holiday ,It was certainly worth every penny, Thank you to the tour company. Just Go, special thanks to the hotelliers Leonard and Micheal Pinger, and not forgetting their staff, all very friendly and helpful

Room Tip: We were at the back of hotel on 4th floor, overlooking gardens, the front of the hotel overlooks the...

Stayed at The Pinger Hotel as part of a 'package' - 4 nights. Our room (401) was very good indeed, it appeared to have been recently refurbished. Very comfortable and clean. The room overlooks the railway at the south end of Remagen Railway station - which is literally just across the road - (specially requested a room on the front, being a railway enthusiast !). Had no trouble with train noise - windows had very good double glazing. The buffet meals (breakfast and dinner) were very good with a choice and there was plenty of food available. Staff were welcoming, efficient and friendly. We could not ask for better service. Remagen is a small town and the River Rhine Promenade was a few minutes walk away. As we had a couple of rail based excursions, the hotel's location so close to the station could not have been better.

I would recommend this hotel without hesitation !

Room Tip: Our Room 401 was very good indeed despite being on the front - which did not bother us at all.

Just spent 6 days at Pinger Hotel with Justgo Holidays , the room was lovely and clean and well decorated , the shower room was a wetroom and the shower was a decent size so you actualy got wet , the food was bufet style breakfast and dinner and was tasty and plentiful , the staff were very polite and helpful and the owners were always available for any queries , situated in a small town with lots of shops opposite the railway station which didn't bother us , and 300 metres from the Rhine this is the perfect place for a holiday.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for a room at the back of the hotel ,trains might disturb you.

Almost on the main railway line running alongside the Rhine, this compact hotel is a must for train enthusiasts. Not the most luxurious but more than adequate for short breaks in the majestic Rhine valley with major centres like Cologne, Bonn and Koblenz just a short train journey away.
The hotel has small but immaculately clean rooms with friendly staff offering help and generous measures of a very good house red wine as part of an all inclusive stay - fortunately the bar has a 9 o'clock limit for free drinks which cuts down on the day-after feeling.
The food becomes a bit samey after a few days but it makes a passable attempt at restaurant cuisine. Breakfast, well its the usual continental but there is a good variety of meats, cereals and somewhat doughy croissants.
They did provide a do-it-yourself packed lunch but a far better option was to explore the small towns along the river banks with an excellent range of cuisines - more pizza parlours than you can shake a stick at but if you search you can find authentic German food at reasonable rates.
There were some complaints about the noise from the nearby railway but since German trains are whisper quiet we never found this to be a problem although were were on the far side of the hotel.
Beware of the lift - anymore than two people at one time and it becomes uncomfortably intimate - the stairs are great for burning off the excesses of bratwurst and huge slabs of pork which is a must for the German traveller.
There is a curious arrangement of an electronic code for the bedroom doors - we simply couldn't get the hang of it until a friendly barman pointed out that you have to wait three seconds before entering your code - we were on our third set of figures before we figured it out.
The rooms are small but have an excellent wet-room arrangement and a strong shower which never suffered from the "wrong time for hot water" syndrome which sometimes afflicts this type of hotel.

Room Tip: If there are big groups staying, try to eat dinner early since they did run out of some of the dishe...
