“Gem on the Moselle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

Friendly, family run B&B. Spotlessly clean, great breakfast, peaceful location (across the river from Beilstein "Sleeping Beauty of the Moselle" and away from the touristy bustle of Cochem). Be sure to visit Beilstein (by ferry during the day or a 10 minute drive). In the evening, Beilstein's Zehnthauskeller is a fun place for wine tasting.

Room Tip: All the rooms have a comfy couch and table with chairs. Some rooms also have a balcony with table an...

We booked an apartment at Weingut Clemens for 4 nights based on comments here at TA. We were not disappointed. Our appartment was large, very clean, and had all the amenities expected, all at a very reasonable price during harvest season. The establishment is a comfortable array of hotel rooms and appartments situated on the bank of the Mosel River in the beautiful Mosel wine growing region catering mainly to German tourists. An opportunity to meet and experience the local people. The Clemens family, father, mother, son, and daughter in law Tanja, are very special people in the hotel business as they are genuine very friendly down to earth people. We had a wine tasting in their wine cellar and then were invited to join them and other guests to a wide-open wine festival in a neighbouring time. A really great experience! We wish to thank the Clemens family for a great stay. Would very much highly recommend.

We spent a week here, in October 2011, and we loved it. The apartment we stayed in had 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and the kitchen, dining and lounge was all in one room. The beds were comfy, the view outstanding, of the Mosel River, and the location perfect. We were able to drive to loads of pretty villages, Cochem was less than a 10 minute drive away. We were very spoilt in the region, and the apartment was lovely. The owners, Andreas and his parents were very helpful, whenever answering our questions. We drove as far as Cologne, a very beautiful city. We couldn't fault the apartment or the region and would definitely love to return.

I stayed here with a friend for a long weekend in June and we were so glad we had chosen this gem! It wasn't so much the hotel facilities - we had one of the small rooms under the roof - perfectly fine but nothing special. It was everything else that made our stay feel special. This is a real family b&b and everyone makes you feel really welcome and almost part of the family! We had the impression that most other guests had been coming for years and even decades, so it felt like a gathering of friends. The highlight was the wine tasting on Saturday - originally scheduled to take 1.5 hours and include 6 wines, we ended up sitting on the sunny terrace for hours, tasting and drinking everything the house had to offer while being entertained with funny anecdotes about wine growing, village politics and life in general! English is spoken but you migth miss out on some of the jokes...
The location is also good - much quieter than some of the more famous places along the Mosel river, but only 100 yards or so from the river path. Highly recommended!

Late april at the Mosel-river, spring at its hight, and then the original experience of living with the wine-grower family. This is the original experience.
The family Clemens, grandfather, son and son's sons with their wifes who takes care of you. Kindnes and dignity, proudnes and high sense of quality in every detail.
We stayed at this B&B for 4 nights and every morning we had a fine german continental breakfast and the best advice from mrs. Clemens about what to do today. We borrowed books and maps - and this added to the experience. The young mr. Clemes helped us from his private computer with the boarding cards for our planes the day we left and of course we could not leave without seeing the cellars and winefactory.
We have chosen the smallest room up under the roof - and it functioned, but mind the stairs. If you want more comfort, then chose a bigger or a holiday appartment. The rooms are all modern. It goes without saying that everything was extremely clean and tidy.
Poldersdorf has all the original charm you can wish for - not a tourist town. But there are 3 decent eating places, we tried the two and were not disappointed. But this is german, local style kitchen. However the distance to Cochem and other touristic places is short, if you need not-german food.
We had a nice holiday - Try it - Thanks to everyone in the family Clemens.
