This is a storybook hotel and location. We also chose this based on Rick Steves guidebook and I think we stayed in his exact room from the description. The Moselle River is a sleepier river than the Rhine, but perfect for couples - eating, drinking wine, touring picturesque towns, biking. This hotel had all the modern amenities - wifi, towel warmer, hair dryer, great bed. We chose the best room in the house which has a terrace. We sat there in the afternoon drinking a local Riesling and checking our email while we watched boats saunter down the river. Our meals were awesome and typical German, but with a fancy twist. Eating breakfast, which is hearty and divine, is like sitting in a room where the knights used to hang out. The town itself is like living in a cuckoo clock for your visit. The Lipmann family did an excellent job in keeping the history and charm alive, with modern amenities that travelers want. We felt that Beilstein and this hotel were the highlight of our trip. Rent bikes from the family in town and ride up and down the river. It is an eady flat ride and a fun part of your trip. We will not forget the hospitality and postcard setting of this hotel!

Room Tip: We enjoyed having the terrace room with a view of the river. I think it may be the most expensive r...

Our initial stay in Europe for a month long journey was simply WUNDERBAR! We chose this location as per recommendation from Rick Steves Europe. He hit the nail on the head with this. Although it is an off the beaten path location on the Mosel River it is truly a delightful and romantic German location. We stayed three days with Anja and David Thölen Lipmann and thoroughly enjoyed our accommodations, breakfast and views. They also have an excellent restaurant that serves very good dinners. Our room was very large and comfortable on the upper level of the annex. We walked up the triple flight of stairs happily because we knew that we would arrive at a room as comfortable as home. It is truly a wonderful experience to stay with the Lipmanns and we highly recommend the experience.

From the moment we arrived to the reluctant retreat from this riverside paradise, David, his wife and staff treated us as family. We had a spacious third floor room that had a breathtaking view of the Mosel river. We could pass the time in our room watching barges lasily meander down the Mosel while sipping a glass of local wine.

Breakfast which was included in the room price was much more than you would normally expect from a Hotel or Bed and Breakfast. Breakfast is served in the historic knights room, which is full of "medieval charm" and dark wood.

You can also take your meals out on the patio which overlooks the Mosel.
With wine vines overhead, you can relax with a glass of wine and watch commerce and vacationers drift down the river, as if in another time.

We (my wife) can be a bit demanding at times. We asked a lot of questions, requested hot water for tea in our rooms, extra towels, etc..whatever out request was, David was always there to accommodate with a smile.

The town of Beilsten is so charming and just the right size. Once night falls you can wander around the cobbled stone streets of the ancient berg and pop in and out of cosy wine shops and restaurants. Live music will keep the fun going on the weekends.

If you are looking for an idyllic relaxing trip, that is bit off the grid and one which will generate a lifetime of memories, Beilstein is the town, and Hotel Haus Lipmann is the place.

Room Tip: Get a room with river view. It is worth any premium you pay for it.

Hotel Haus Lipmann was not the average hotel it was quite exceptional in all regards.
A family owned and run business for many generations this hotel and restaurant could not be faulted it was in the quaintest little village in the most beautiful setting fronting the Mosel river surrounded by vineyards on the slopes and backing onto a forest .
Our hosts were very friendly helpful and obviously committed to ensuring all their guests had a wonderful experience while staying in their Hotel Haus Lipmann.
This Hotel is a Bed and Breakfast and our breakfast was enjoyed on the vine covered verandah over looking the comings and goings on the river.
We served ourselves from a beautiful selection of fruits croissants pastries ham meats cheese and hot choices which were delicious.
We would not normally have lunch or dinner in hotel facilities but this was not the norm, we tried dinner on the first night and felt we would be mad to venture any further afield the verandah setting, beautiful wine of the region and delicious food. Perfect!

Room Tip: Character room very spacious, beautiful bathroom ,verandah with river views and views of the square...

We spent four nights here in July 2013 and it was a true delight. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is very good (and I would especially recommend the full of variety breakfast), and we had a charming room overlooking the river. Nothing was too much trouble for the ever helpful hotel manager - from maps to bike hire to wine purchases, he sorted it! I would highly recommend this hotel. The location is great: there is amazing hiking territory, as well as cycling along the Mosel for as far as your legs can carry you (you can always get the boat back!). It was also very good value for money. Wonderful.

Room Tip: It's worth paying the relatively small extra cost to have a room with a balcony overlooking the...

We stayed here for 4 nights. It s a lovely hotel in the heart of Belstein. The hotel has been family run for generations and it shows. Every member of staff was lovely and treated us like members of their family even though the hotel was very busy. Each night the restaurant offered a great menu with lots of variety. The breakfast offered lots of choice and everything was fresh. Great coffee. They offer special discounts for residents too, We had a beautifully tastefully decorated huge room with a balcony that overlooked the village and the Moselle.

Room Tip: Room with a balcony and room view.

After our best meal in Germany in a lovely setting, my husband and I are making plans to return to Haus Lipmann to stay! The village of Beilstein is extremely charming and the ferry across the Mosel to the vineyards is unique. I would highly recommend a meal (and we hope a future stay) at Haus Lipmann!
