I was attending MEDICA fair and looked for hotel very last minute. I found this one via one of popular hotel search engines. I was greatly supprised. For reasonable price (during fair all hotels usually rise their prices above reasonable level), the hotel was really great. Very friendly and helpful staff. The lady at the desk pointed us to good food near hotel. The Köln centre is about 15km away, which is about 20 minutes drive with car including parking.

The hotel is in good shape, modern and fresh. Bed was good. Internet access was free. Guy at the bar waited until late hours for us to finish all beers. Breakfast was good with plenty of food including fresh fruits.

Room Tip: All rooms are OK. The hotel is in quiet industrial area surrounded with offices, no heavy industry.

Courteous staff and near to Köln. Good parking facilities. Rooms adequate, clean and comfortable, so perfect for an en route overnight stay. Reasonable breakfast is included in the price (75euros for 2 people for 1 night), also internet available.

As we did not want to stay inside the city, this option was very reasonable.....
No it is not an example of the upscale hotels we are accustomed to, but it was clean and neat.
The service was excellent and the breakfast very nice.
The facility is is spacious and a lot of work has gone into keeping it up to date.
There is no restaurant, but the suggestions were helpful.
We tried the Marco Polo (Italian Restayurant) for Sunday Dinner, but got sick from the meal. The Tirimisu and Espresso we do recommend...........
All and all spent most of our time at Cheers (Essen und Trinken) the food was amazing and service exceptional. They also have rooms, in which we will stay there next time we visit Koeln.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the backside, for the traffic starts early and is very noisy........

If I'd have to pay 100+ EUR/night for staying at 'Freischutz' hotel, I'd definitely think twice (if not several times) before.
But for a ~50 - 60, that's a no-brainer.
Clean (carpets might fancy a renewal or at least a thorough swipe, though), friendly, WiFi, free parking (with enough parking lots not to worry you'll have to search for another place), decent breakfast offering.
On the flip side, there's no real restaurant in the hotel, so - if you want to have a dinner - you may have to drive away...
Pay attention that room walls are extremely thin, so - don't blame on the administration if you'll hear your neighbors partying (or even watching TV a bit louder).
All in one, a place to consider for an overnight stop around Köln if needed.
You may want to pay special attention to the fact that reception is only open until 10:00 PM. Usually, they send you the access code for opening the keys locker, but if you miss that you can still call a mobile number.

We stayed at the hotel Freischütz for one night over the weekend. The price was 150 Euro (probably because there was a fair in Köln during that weekend). What we got for this money was not too much the rooms are very simple (no big mirrorw, no water cooker, no safe etc) However the personel is very nice and helps you with all your questions. The breakfast was included. It was simple but enough and they have a nice coffee machine. I guess if there is nothing special going on in Köln and the rooms are not that expensive its totally fine to sleep there for a few nights.
