The hotel is situated well for a trip into Koln or to Phantasialand. 15 min drive to phantasialand. it is clean, plenty of parking. Family room was perfect. its a split level room with a double bed (quite hard) and then a small stairs up to a room (not private) - open with balcony bars with 2 double beds. We had 2 15 year olds, and it was perfect to give them their own spot but still keep an eye on them. There is no privacy for the adults. Bathroom is very tiny but clean. linens clean. breakfast buffet good qua price quality - fresh bread, eggs, yogurt, coffee, milk and all stuff to go on the bread. no fruit or luxury but for 6,90euro it is good. the reception staff (30/7 night) was extremely friendly and helped us because there was only smoking rooms left (we requested non and didn't get their email in time) but 1 smelled worse - so we took the other and it wasn't so bad. all in all i would choose this chain again for a simple overnight. oh and free wifi!

B&B hotels seem to have very simple pricing. The price is same from the hotel website and from the reception and there is no difference if iyour stay is on weekend or during week.
Family room (4 single beds, 2 upstairs) was 66 euros (without breakfast). Breakfast is also available from Burger King next door if you do not fancy the hotel breakfast for 6.90€.
However, i would recommend the bakery that is on way to Frechen Bahnhof tram stop.

Hotel is easy to find from motorway, parking is free. In family toom the separated upstairs section for children adds value. And aircondtioning is there too. Bathroom is small and it had seen better days (stains, paint peeling off etc.) but did it's job.

The surrounding area is not particularly nice, but if you want to spend one or two days in Cologne with family or friends, this hotel is ok. Some shopping opportunities are also located next door. Code-based locking system is also nice when travelling with friends with different schedules. Only negative side in this hotel is the sound isolation, the sounds from adjacent rooms may disturb your sleep-

Tram station is located within 15 minutes walk, and as said in the previous review, you need to buy the more expensive ticket (3.60) to get in Cologne city. And reserve coins for the ticket machine that is in the train! I understood that the family ticket would be the best choice. 24 hours ticket for 4 persons was around 11€. Also when coming back, we learned that not all trams are travelling all way to Frechen but stop in the depot close to Cologne.

When we visited Cologne we decided to take the cheap option and stay here. The hotel was absolutely fine and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful.

The location is very convenient for the highway and reasonably easy to get into Cologne on the tram. Its about a 10-15 minute walk thru the outskirts of the fairly grotty town of Frechen to the tram station "Frechen Bahnhof". Buying tickets is pretty confusing. There are no ticket machines at the station - you have to buy them from a machine on the tram itself. The machine has instructions in English and tells you the price of a short, medium and long journey, but gives you absolutely no indication about whether your particular journey is classed as short, medium or long. We just bought the cheapest tickets and hoped for the best. When you get into the city centre you can find proper price lists for your journey and it turned out the tickets we had bought weren't right. Nobody was checking them though. For the record, I think the trip counts as a long journey.

After traveling around Europe on many occasions and just wanting a clean room with a good location and the ability to have 2 kids in the room the new B&B chain are great. Rooms are not huge but are newly furnished with children sleeping in bunk beds behind a curtian facing main bed, Sat TV at no cost, nice shower, no bath. Free parking and entry via a keypad no room keys, basic reception service where you can get a drink and also breakfast if you want it. Cost about 61Euros for a family of 4 per night with no breakfast.
