If you're in Rugen for the fish, then you can't go wrong with Die Raucherei. There are fish sandwiches to go, as well as a restaurant to sit down for a hot meal. The fish is fresh and well-seasoned often with pan-fried potatoes and a salad, and on a cold early spring day it warms the bones.
The interior is very old-school, a bit grungy, but if you know seaside towns, you know this is not untypical, in fact it is part of the charm.
