Gasthaus “Zum Grünen Baum” Michelstadt. Grosse Gasse 17. If you can phone and make reservations in German, this is a fantastic find. Otherwise, only one person there speaks any English with confidence. It is a five minute walk, equidistant from the Bahnhof and the center of town. On entering from the street, this address appears to be a restaurant. Open the front door gently (very tricky if your hands are full), otherwise it will swing and crash into the table behind it. This, by the way, is an excellent restaurant with very filling, heavy meals. (Photos of two of their specialties are included here.) Turn right up the stairs, meandering through restaurant, to find the register for check-in to the rooms. The staff is friendly, patient, kind, helpful, hard working and just plain wonderful. It is a relaxing place. Room is somewhat small, nice, adequate, comfortable and spotless. Bathroom is tiny. Breakfast is very homey and fantastic: great cold cuts, hardboiled eggs, cereals, cheese, tomatos, pickles, yummy rolls and _fresh_ butter.
