“Lovely Swabian restaurant with typical old ambiance”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

A restaurant serving typical Swabian food in one of the oldest houses of Esslingen. Very nice atmosphere and very good service. In the evening a wine cellar is being opened. Good food with reasonable prices

“729 year old wine cellar - great hidden gem of venue”
Reviewed May 26, 2013 via mobile

Luckily our friends who live nearby took us here for a Swabian meal and an alternative venue for food and drink.

What a treat... and one that Mercedes F1 team staff and drivers have frequented in the past.

The street level entrance promises something quite special, and certainly even if you are eating in the cellar... you should have a peek...

Food was great... and even our vegetarian friends had great meals... we stuck with Swabian fare... a tasty asparagus soup and side salad, followed by two significant beef dishes... a special and a main menu.

Apple fritters and chopped pancakes were an unnecessary, yet tasty finish to meal...

Our waiters were great, and quickly supplied English menus, which seemed to be full ones, rather than slimmed down tourist menu...

The waiter was very efficient and recommended a great plum Schnapps to finish meal off...

Given we had three starters, four mains, four desserts, a bottle of Kessler (local sparkling wine, which is another must try) and two Schnapps the final cost was very reasonable indeed for the uniqueness of venue and high quality fare.

We look forward to coming again...

“Good Food in an Interesting Location”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

It was enjoyable experience to eat in the cellar area of the resturant. The price of the food is reasonable.
I was there during the asparagus season and the food was really nice. Service is good and very homely.
Excellect place to have dinner at the end of the day walking around the old town.
I would recomand it.

Loved the feel of the restaurant, and chef came out to check on us. He made recommendations for our after dinner drinks and dessert. Wonderful local food.
