“Worth going out of your way for...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

Superb inn in a gorgeous part of the Black Forest. Dining at Rebstock Waldulm is a high point of staying there. This is not a spot that caters to foreign tourists, but more to Germans who appreciate excellent service and cuisine. No pig's knuckles or schnitzles, but wonderfully complex flavors using fairly simple, local, seasonal ingredients. Wine list is varied and similarly superb. Our meals were typically 60 Euros for two with no scrimping on the menu or the fine wines and obst. As for the room? Great value at approximately 80 Euros nightly... Large, clean, and quiet, with a small creek lulling you to sleep. Worth going out of your way for if you're looking for something off the beaten path, for a special occasion at a reasonable price. At least one or two of the staff speak English and French. Lots of serious cyclists here in the summer, as well as those who like trekking the hundreds of miles of well-marked paths. We spent two nights here, and regret not having stayed a bit longer!

“Tradition”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2012

On the slopes of the Black Forest in the wine-growing village of Waldulm sits this stately 250 year old half-timbered architectural gem of a restaurant. The Rebstock also has a few hotel rooms and a big terrace with a view which is open during warm weather.
The wood paneled interior immediately feels comfortable and intimate. The food is prepared along the local German tradition with some impressive innovative additions by the chef utilizing fresh local ingredients.
Remarkable are the various sauces in the local style which come with the meals. Every dish our party of 6 tried was excellent, just as the other times we had visited the past few years.
The service by the staff dressed in traditional local costumes is friendly, professional and impeccable. Notable among the huge wine list are the wines bottled by the owner and his family from their own grapes grown nearby.
Excellent food in the tradition of the Baden region of Germany.

“Leckeres, hochwertiges Essen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2012
