This site has a lot on the web,and sounded very interesting as my son in particular has a passion for medieval history and castles. This was disappointing. Due to our holiday schedule we missed out on the medieval festival and arrived midweek to a very simple exhibit with little historic interest outside of speculation and farm management. The staff were helpful and I am sure if we went there when there were activities planned it would be fun but our visit was "heartbreaking" and an expensive disappointment.

we went to crevecoeur mainly to look at the lovely buildings, but all the facts about the schlumberger family was a bonus especially the discovery of geo-physics.
Well worth the 6 euros to get in, there is an interesting audio guide for an extra 2 euros.

Although not a very large site, the buildings themselves are very interesting and well presented, with several explanatory videos.
There is a section devoted to the oil-exploration business of the family associated with the chateau, and this was extremely good.
The young lady at the ticket desk/ shop was absolutely charming.

This middle ages castle complete with a moat is surrounded by half-timbered farm buildings. In one of them, there is a fascinating film that describes in detail how these buildings were built and/or restored. There are various displays and a large collection of equipment and information about the Schlumberger brothers who revolutionized the petroleum industry with their revolutionary petroleum exploration techniques.

It was wet and freezing when we were there, but we still enjoyed it greatly and were there about 3 hours - without much outdoor exploration. The audio guide was easy to use and helpful but did cost 2Euros extra. There was no food available when we were there.
