Stayed with a Leger Battlefield tour. Room 209 is off on a quiet alley, with no noise. Check-in was super efficient. The bathroom is huge with soap and shampoo dispenser. However, the toilet kept running all the time and was a bit noisy, so I just shut the door. There was an included fridge (cool but not cold) and safe. A lack of drawers, but the armoire was large enough. The TV had 3 BBC channels and 1 CBEEBIES (cartoon) channel. They do have a PC at the reception area, and the internet was fine, but the EU keyboard is a bit getting used to with the keys in different places. Breakfast is decent – normally our group started at 7:30am with plenty of choices. I would stay again.

Room Tip: room 209 is quiet

Dear client
thank you for this nice review.
I don't know if you informed reception, so I will ask my manage Jean Jacques to have the toilet checked.

Used as base for a Leger Battlefields Tour. Comfortable accommodation, very clean, good bed and excellent bathroom, just what I wanted. Bar meals only of an evening but some good restaurants a short walk away.

stayed at this Best Western at Easter 2014 with a coach party from a Leger Battlefields Trip. Check-in was efficient. Also provided with codes for main doors which are locked after 10 p.m,. and wifi.

I had a twin room and was given room 111. The room was large, housing two large beds. Coffee and tea making facilities. Exceptionally clean. Shampoo and soap. A wall mounted hair dryer. The flat screen TV immediately came onto BBC without any of the usual problems when traveling abroad. An electric bedside alarm clock was supplied - again very easy to programme.

Breakfasts starts at 7.00 a.m. There is a separate breakfast room where you can have unlimited tea and coffee in addition to the usual continental breakfast with yogurts, etc and a hot meal of scrambled egg, baked beans and sausage.

Unlike other reviews, although our room was located at the front of the hotel we experienced no disturbance from traffic from road outside. Menen is a very small sleepy town and hardly suffers from significant traffic. We may have been lucky with it being a holiday weekend.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. In fact had quite a laugh with the barman who seemed to do everything from reception to preparing the food!!!! II think the place did seem to lack staff - not that there were any problems - just that one person seemed to have to do the running around for everything - reception - clearing tables, etc. Must have been quite stressful for them.

There is a very good Italian restaurant (Al Ghiotonne) within 10-15 min walk of hotel.

Dear Rob

great to read all those positive things about our hotel and our staff. Also happy to read that rooms in front fo the hotel were not a problem for you. The windows are indeed double glass and noise of the street is of course very subjective.

We would be honored to welcome you again !

Reviewed April 17, 2014

I stayed at this Best Western from 7th - 11th April 2014 with a coach party from a Leger Battlefields Trip. There were I believe 54 of us who all arrived after a long journey feeling very tired, and I believe we were all anticipating a long wait to get booked in as there appeared to be only one person on reception. However, to our amazement the booking in proceeded very speedily and we found our rooms within minutes.

I had booked single occupancy, and was given room 115 at the end of the corridor.

On booking in I was given a slip with a code for entrance to the hotel after dark, and the password for free internet access. This worked immediately and I was on-line home within seconds. This included using Skype, which I generally have trouble getting when abroad.

Breakfasts starts at 7.00 a.m. There is a separate breakfast room where you can have unlimited tea and coffee in addition to the usual continental breakfast with yogurts, etc and a hot meal of scrambled egg, baked beans and sausage. I did notice though in an adjoining room for the drivers there was a large dish of fruit salad which I would have liked in ours!!!
The only little niggle I had here was the stupid glass cups - not large enough and quite difficult to hold!!

The other slight problem I had - which none of the others seemed to suffer from - was the noise from the road which was right outside my bedroom window. This woke me up at 5.30 every morning - not too much of a problem, but something perhaps double glazing may rectify. It is obvious the people of Menen start work early in the day hence the amount of traffic at such an early time!!

Would certainly recommend the hotel - though perhaps either avoid room 115 or sort out double glazing for that room

The other thing I noticed was that every single day the room was cleaned thoroughly as though new occupancy was expected. Clean towels everyday was not really needed.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 115, the others seem perfectly OK!!!

We stayed here with Leger Travel on a tour of the WW1 battlefields. There was just one man on duty to book us in....we thought we`d be there for ages but we were all in our rooms in 10 minutes flat , not bad for a party of 54 . The room was massive with a lovely Jacuzzi bath big enough for me to swim in! The room was beautifully clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and always being topped up. Tom was the main member of staff we mostly saw, always bright and cheerful, always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. Memen was pretty and there seemed to be plenty of places to eat or shop if we`d got back early. All in all a lovely place

Room Tip: Room 118 is big and peaceful over looks the garden

dear client,

it makes me very happy to read how our hotel and the staff made of your holidays a tremendous experience.

We work indeed with a small number of staff as it is a small hotel but the members of our staff are all very experienced persons which always give 100% of themselves to serve our customers, not only travellers by coach but also our great number of corporate customers.

See you later !

We stayed in the Best Western hotel in Menen earlier this week. On arrival we were given our keys and the codes for the wifi and hotel main door entrance . We were in room 109 which was a large room with twin beds and a large bathroom. Everything was very clean and smart. There is a bar which is open till 10.30 staffed by a lady who's name I think was Sophie. She was very efficient when suddenly 51 people from a coach flooded into her quiet bar.
In the morning there is a very good continental breakfast with the addition of beans, sausages and scrambled egg. Menen is a very quiet town even when we stayed on a Thursday to Saturday night, however the town suited our purpose as we were there to spend long days out visiting Ypres and the Somme and didn't need a lively place at night.
