We have booked this hotel via My Hotel card during our first stay at De Panne, but when we arrived we were told that we could stay in another one belonging to the same ownership, Cajou. This second one was OK, apart the fact that we met the so-called owner of the hotel who, even then, seemed not so professional, since he said that he didn't like the feel that his region, De Panne, looked like it was "invaded" by foreigners (the French speaking population belonging to the same country, Belgium, fell into the same category according to him, who claimed that he would have preferred to see De Panne populated by Flemish people like him, instead of these "foreigners".
The second time around we booked Hotel Maxim and we were actually accommodated there. The hotel would have been OK in itself if it weren't for this "character" that we had the misfortune to cross again.
During our stay we happened one day to talk a little bit loud (it was six o'clock in the afternoon) when this person actually jumped at our throats.
This is incredible, but true.
Stay away from this hotel that is driven by a nut!

Stayed at the Maxim hotel 18th May.
First impression, not bad, when we were shown to our room we were devastated, the carpet was filthy, the bed linen was stained, the shower curtain had mildew at the bottom, ( I have photographic evidence of all these points)
The breakfast next morning was fairly good, however this was ruined by the demolition of the check in counter which was extremely loud, with power tools operating six feet from our table ( again I have a video of this ) When we pointed out our concerns to the receptionist she shook her shoulders as if she did not understand.
Would we stay here again? Not in a million years.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Maxim. The host made me feel very welcome. The Hotel has a modern feel. Free Wi-Fi signal very good, breakfast also enjoyable. the location is good in close proximity to the main street and the seafront restaurants. The Hotel is also bicycle friendly offering secure storage. Highly recommended.

This is a really good hotel in a really nice place.

It is a small family run hotel and the husband and wife are really friendly and speak good English.

The hotel is clean and tidy. The bedrooms are really smart and modern. They have good quality beds/bedding. Really good bathroom and TV with quite a few English speaking channels.

Breakfast is a really good continental type. Great selection including: bread, croissants, spreads, yoghurt, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, drinks etc.

It's location is great being only a 100 yards from the main street/front where you will find the shops and restaurants and the coastal tram service.

We paid 75 Euros (£63) for B&B. Really excellent value.

Room tip: The rooms numbered 101, 102, 103, 201, 202 and 203 have a balcony which faces the sun in the afternoon and evening.

Calais is a pretty horrible spot so De Panne is not a bad place for a stop if you are taking a ferry from Calais in the morning. It is about a 40 minute drive.

We stumbled upon this place. Our single rooms were actuall like small doubles. We got them for 50 euros per night each, including breakfast.

The place was clean and comfortable. It was central and the staff were really nice. A good choice and far better than some of the other local hotels we looked at.
