“Extremely basic. tatty and overpriced”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

We booked 2 rooms and found the hotel to be extremely basic and overpriced at 99 euros for a room. The whole place is tatty and also has a dangerous lift. Since it welcomes families, this is really unacceptable.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere.

We spent a very nice midweek in the parkhotel of De panne in Belgium. Food was okay, room was ok, people were very friendly and as a surprise on the last night of our holiday there was an excellent keyboardplayer who played our favourite songs. We can fully recommend this hotel.

This is the first time that we have stayed since June 2011 and the refurbed rooms with walk in shower fantastic, the seaside theme to the room is a lovely idea.

As usual the rooms are kept spotlessly clean. One thing you always get a good nights sleep on the wonderfull comfortable beds.

The evening bufffet was excellent and as allways the breakfast will keep you going all day.

Once again a very relaxing stay would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Spent the weekend here, rooms are really basic, no carpet just lino, but spotless. Breakfast was standard cold buffet and no grumbles about the service. Loads of eateries in the town but only a handful of bars. Beach area is lovely, will be nice in summer ! Also went on the tram to Ostend (1hr 20min) with a 2euro ticket purchased from the hotel. When I visit the area again i will stay in the busier Ostend although De Panne is ok if you prefer a little quiter.

Yes to previous review, we also found this hotel hard to find, an old house in area of old houses all down one way streets! no parking but we shuffled into space between trees in the street. only stayed the night on way back to early ferry but would possibly come again to visit the area.

The hotel is conveniently situated. In a residential area, it's about a 10 minute walk to the market square (with its extensive, busy, market on Saturdays) and about the same to the sea front (along which runs the Kust Tram, the coastal tram which runs all the way to Zeebrugge/Knokke - a brilliant means of sightseeing).

Our double room, on the third floor, was of moderate size, perhaps feeling smaller because of the large, but extremely comfortable, bed. It had a large, well-finished, ensuite shower room. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room. It was all in a very clean condition. There is no traffic noise.

We ate in the restaurant, and thought the meals were excellent. The continental-style buffet breakfast was extensive and, on the two nights we stayed there - Friday & Saturday - the evening meals were buffets - the first, a Spanish theme, and the second, Belgium. The first of these was very good, the second quite exceptionally good (in range, quality and quantity) - we highly recommend it.

We found all staff helpful and friendly (this is a family-run hotel).

On the negative side, we would have to list parking difficulties. The hotel advertises it has parking available and, whilst this is literally true, it's only sufficient for 5-6 vehicles. This for a hotel with 44 rooms (as well as their own vehicles), it's really inadequate. Parking in the surrounding streets is advised as being 'easy', but this is really stretching it. These are residential streets, already with lots of residents' cars.

One other negative point concerns the hotel's evident acceptance of guests' dogs in the restaurant (and, we thus presume, in the bedrooms, as well). A large dog was present at both breakfast and dinner during our stay, and we were not happy with that.

Over all, though, we enjoyed our stay at the Park Hotel. It's well located, clean and tidy and with friendly staff. We would certainly stay there again, once we've got the car parked.......
