“Not to be missed !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2012

We had a 7 km walk along the canal from Brugges to Damme ( around 1 hour). Stunningly beautiful ! Jacques Brel´s "Plat pays" at its best. You can do it by steam peddle and it takes around 30 minutes. Damme is a little rural place and you can go for a walk into the country side - post card like or nicer, to be honest. But the thing not to be missed is a bistro called "Tante Marie". Try the combination of three dishes ( Tante Marie option, although there are several combinations). A fabulous mixed salad accompanies. Desserts are to die for -try the tarte with black cherries in custard ! This was one of the best culinary experiences we had in the region. And, believe it: - warm service !

“Delicious food on a sunny terrace”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2012

Damme is well worth a visit in its own right, but Tante Marie is the icing on the cake. Just a quarter of an hour bus ride from Bruges, this cafe/patisserie is a little gem. We ate in the secluded, sunny terrace at the back under a large sunshade and enjoyed freshly-made salads with a subtle Asian influence. We were disappointed not to have room for the delicious looking patisserie; perhaps next time. The place was spotless, staff attentive and helpful and the atmosphere happy and relaxing. Also enjoyed the canal boat ride back to Bruges.

“great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2012

I didn't read any review before I went to this lovely cafe. I just walked by and went in. I ordered a fish sticks with tartar sauce, cabonara and English tea. The cabonara is the best I have ever had.

“Thank you Tripadvisor!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2012

After reading reviews for Tante Marie on Tripadvisor we ate lunch here after a boat trip from Bruges and are so pleased that we did. The patisserie was spotlessly clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and the freshest we have ever tasted. If you go to Damme, Tante Marie is well worth a visit.

“Delicious lunch and dessert”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2012

We took a boat ride from Bruges to Damme and fell into this restaurant by chance. We ordered the large quiche plate for lunch and found that it was so large that it could be shared easily by 2 people. It was also one of the best quiches we had ever eaten. The salads that accompanied the quiche were fresh and plentiful as well. The best though was the dessert: we shared a Javanese layer cake and we are still talking about it. Definitely worth having a meal here. And if the weather is good, then eat outside in the back.
