My wife and I had a pleasant evening at Boogaers 29 April. The service was good and, despite what other reviewers have noted, we found it to be friendly. The wait staff reorganized themselves so that we had an English speaking waitress (much appreciated, thank you).
We opted for the three course, fixed price menu. The asparagus soup was good (but not Marche 17). The salmon was a generous portion but a touch overcooked in our minds and the rhubarb desert superb. They certainly do not rush you here and some will find the staging too slow, as at least one other reviewer may have noted.
This clearly is a "local" spot. A number of diners were on their own and well known to the staff. The cuisine is traditional Belgian with a touch of France, in my mind. The price point is good value for money for what is provided, but not an inexpensive place to have dinner in our opinion. The venue itself was clean and very hospitable. We will go back the next time we are in Turnhout.
