Beautifully decorated house - nice and cosy!

The rainy weather in late May took us by surprise and threw our planned outdoor activities out of the window. But this only makes our stay here feel more cosy and warm!

Our wonderful hosts Larry & Lisa are always offering good suggestions and advices - what is good and what to avoid. Larry, we enjoy our lunch at Gruner Baum, thanks for the great suggestion!

Larry & Lisa, a sincere thanks for the wonderful hospitality and excellent service! We hope to visit the region again to experience the sunnier Obertraun and probably Larry's cooking!

Stayed here for 2 nights. Excellent large rooms with views directly to the mountains. Very helpful and friendly owners will give advice on the region. Good breakfast and parking for those with a car. Obertraun is good place to be as a base for this area. Only a short hop to Hallstatt but with no group tourists and has good local restaurants close to the House. You will love your stay here.

Here’s what you get when you stay at Haus Hepi: a perfectly beautiful Austrian home in which to stay, simply amazing food prepared by co-owner Larry Hepi, and local knowledge of the many activities to do in this incredibly beautiful area of the world. Breakfast is included; dinner is extra (but I highly recommend it); they offer bike rentals at a reasonable price; and they were very accommodating of the fact that we were traveling with an 18-month-old.

Lisa and Larry and their family are British ex-pats who have made the conscious decision to live in the location of their dreams. It is clear that sharing their chosen lifestyle and adopted homeland with visitors makes them happy. The length of our visit – six days – probably gave us the opportunity to get to know our hosts better than, say, the overnight guest (who probably also makes the colossal mistake of not paying the few extra Euros for dinner). I promise you there is no better food in the region than former professional chef Larry’s cooking. And Lisa and Larry took a genuine interest in what we were doing each day, what our interests were, where we came from, and why we came to visit Austria. They were just wonderful.

Staying at Haus Hepi added something very special to our visit to Austria – and it will to yours too. I couldn’t recommend a place more highly. Mark

Room tip: Communicate with the owners via email before arriving. We had a few special needs -- a food allergy, a bike trailer for our 18-month-old -- and they took care of everything.

Stayed here for a long weekend in June and loved it. Excellent service, facilities and great value for money. Very well situated near the centre of town yet plenty of peace and quiet in the evenings.

Will definitely be back.
