5 of us drove from Munich to Tux, to ski for the weekend. We stayed at the Tiroler Hof 1 night, Saturday.
First, we stayed in the annex (which is a 7 room separate building from the hotel, just up the street). We checked in at the hotel after skiing on Saturday, and the receptionist was super friendly. She also gave us the option upon check-in (vs. having to choose before, when we booked) whether we wanted half-board or not. For an addition 10 euros, we got a 5 course dinner, so we naturally accepted half-board!
After getting our keys, we headed to the annex. It's less than a min. to drive, or about a 4 min walk.
The annex is so cute, it's like a separate, smaller b&b! From the time you walk in the stained glass door, you are happy to be there. While the main hotel has the larger sauna and workout facility, the annex has a small sauna and steam room, in addition to a workout room and ping pong table. The annex also had it's own breakfast room, so you dont have to go to the main hotel in the morning, and a small table/alcove on the main and upper floor to grab beers from the fridge (mark what you take, and they bill you later) and hang out with friends. No one was loud in the annex, yet was a very friendly and open environment.
We dispersed to find our rooms and became even happier. We were in Room 2, and had a balcony, double bed, tv, armoire, small table and chairs, and nice size bathroom (shower only- but room 3 had a bath). It was decorated with wood and in an austrian simple style, and felt perfect for a ski getaway! I imagine it would also feel very cozy and appropriate in summertime too, after hikes around the hills or biking the countryside.
We had no problems walking down to dinner at the main hotel, and enjoyed the meal. 2 of us were vegetarians, and the restaurant had 4 options to choose for the main dish and 2 were vegetarian. They were also very accommodating to adjust the other appetizer to a vegetarian option.
Overall, GREAT stay. Very comfortable and cute alp style rooms, in a friendly and nice hotel. Perfect location too, being right on the main road and town of tux. You can walk to other bars or restaurants if you choose, or stay longer.
Hintertuxer ski area, the glacier, was less than a 5 min. drive away, and other ski resorts in the area were within 10 min.
We highly recommend Tiroler Hof!
