We stayed in one of the panorama suite on the top floor of this lovely hotel and booked on a self-catering basis to give us more flexibility. The apartment was lovely. It was very modern, well-equipped and very spacious (with one of the largest hotel bathrooms I have ever seen!). There were views of the mountains from all rooms and the two balconies, the one off the bedroom had a view across the village to the lake. We ordered fresh bread daily from the reception so we could take breakfast in the apartment. During my stay, I needed to wash some clothes which the maid arranged for me and despite trying to pay for this service when we left, the Hotel told us it was free and to tip the maid if we wanted to say thanks!

The hotel itself is well located on a quiet street at the back of the village. There are many walks accessible from the door (ranging from mountain ascents to easy valley or lake walks) and the cable car station is minutes away on foot. There's also a bus stop at either end of the street giving easy access to surrounding resorts (free with the guest card), the train station at Jenbach and the German lake resort of Tegernsee (which was the next stop on our tour).

All in all, this was a lovely hotel in a beautiful, quiet village. We had a wonderful week and were very impressed with the accommodation. We would definitely go back.

After the hussle bussle of Eurodisney, we drove down to Pertisau am Achensee for a relaxing week. Having spent much time in the Tirol, and Austria in general over the years, we hadn't been here before. From the moment we made the booking and received a very welcoming e-mail from the hotel, we knew we'd made a very good decision.

We booked an apartment which slept 4 people, and we were running late on our drive from France, so I telephoned the hotel just in case there was a problem. My German is ok, but the receptionist spoke perfect English, and re-assured me there was no problem. On arrival, we checked in with no fuss, and the receptionist showed us to our nearby apartment, and proceeded to give us a guided tour, even though it was now 21:30.

The apartment is listed as 4*, and did not disappoint; the kids were amazed. There was everything, including a mini shop which had a ceiling high fridge containing essentials like milk, butter, wine and beer.....and at 21:30 no shops would be open. She told me to take what we wanted, and let them know at the end of the week, and we could pay for them then. Wow! So trusting!

The inside hall light was faulty on our arrival, but the receptionist said she'd send someone round to fix it the next day, and sure enough, the owner called the next day to sort it out.

I really can't praise this place enough, this was probably the best apartment we'd ever stayed at, and we can't wait to go back again. In fact I'm thinking of taking my wife back out there for a romantic weekend stay in the hotel.

We didn't have any meals or drinks in the hotel, so I can't comment there, but the apartment was perfect, and had the most fantastic views with a balcony stretching round 2 sides of the building.

One tip from the owner's wife: If you want to make a booking, e-mail the hotel direct as you'll get a better deal than through some of the other websites.
