Our week stay was faultless. From the bedding folded into hearts, the five course dinner, and the wonderful staff that made you feel you were the only people staying. The weather was good and so much to do in the area. Trips on the lake and the mountain railway and cable cars. Everything ran on time and everything was clean. Our best Holiday ever. We went with Inghams Travel who again are faultless.

Room Tip: All the rooms have balconies and are large and airy. Just go and see for yourself!

Great hotel with plenty of walking opportunities on the doorstep. Used lifts (2), boats, train and busses extensively on the week pass (€52). September may be a bit late with snow about 2200m, but lots of lower level tracks with many alpine restaurants to keep up energy levels.

Pertisau is a modern resort with lots of apartment blocks and big hotels, so it lacks the charm of a more traditional Alpine village.

Tip: get to the busses early in their run to ensure that you get a space, especially in the mornings.

This was our first trip to Austria and we have been back only a few days and can,t wait to get back to Furtners Sporthotel and Lake Achensee.Absolutely beautiful, stunning scenery,I thought the scottish hills were big...!
Hotel was so comfortable ,traditional decor .Very friendly and heplfull staff, lovely people!
Food was so fresh and delicious...5 star quality..
Slept well every night and woke to the most beautifull views, including the first fairway of the golf course.
Pertisau has it all for walking and anything else outdoors you wish to persue..and the lake is the most stunning shade of torquoise .Buy the 50 euro card if your there even for the week and your local transport is then free.
Just a great hotel and resort

Lake Achensee is a delight and buying the weekly pass is a must as you can criss cross the lake , and ride on the wonderful steam train and cable cars as often as you want. This is a good walking area, with a variety of walks around the lake and a large range of other walks to suit all abilities. The hotel rooms are cleaned to a high standard, the food is excellent with a large choice for each course, and the staff are very helpful and personable. (Margarite, the waitress, is charming and always cheerful.) The hotel is in a lovely setting, in the grounds of the golf course; ideal for keen golfers. We had a lovely week here, surrounded by beautiful scenery and being very well looked after.

Pertisau is both a winter sports and summer resort in a lovely location on beautiful Lake Achensee high up above the valley below. Surrounded by an impressive mountain range, it is also very quiet given that there is no through-traffic. There is a nice walk north of the village along the lake and also a good ferry service to points around it. All these attractions mean big numbers of tourists, and comparison of old photographs with the current reality show extensive recent development. Pertisau doesn't have the vintage charm of other places in Austria; indeed, not much of the original Pertisau is identifiable, aside from the once-fine old Hotel Alpenhof, sadly abandoned since the 1960s.

Despite Pertisau's many hotels, on a Wednesday evening in August Furtners was the first of about ten we tried which was able to accommodate us. We were offered half board for 80 euros per person per day, which by the pricey standards of the eurozone, was probably quite reasonable.

Furtners Hotel is fairly typical of the many newish hotels in Pertisau. Big, built in vaguely traditional Tyrolean style and with lots of other folksy touches, including in the internal decoration and the costumes worn by staff. Room service staff shape your duvet into a heart shape.

Rooms were big and comfortable with a good bathroom and a terrace with mountain views. Breakfast and dinner was generous. The dining area could get uncomfortably warm (the modern windows don't open much), but the staff were prepared to serve meals on the cooler outside terrace.
