My wife and I have used the Hafnerwirt many times while on holiday in Hallein & Salzburg.
Hallein is not very far from Salzburg.
The staff members are very friendly, the prices reasonable (€40 pp), rooms clean & comfortable and breakfast excellent.
There is a good restaurant on the ground floor if you don't want to travel into Hallein proper. I don't think the restaurant belongs to the Hafnerwirt.
This is a great place to stay if you want to explore the Saltmines on Dürrenberg, see the mock Celtic village up there, visit the Pilgrimage Church of St. Maria or just get into the history of the town which has always been connected with salt refining. We return again and again and always find something new to occupy our time.
Since it is so near Salzburg and the trains run frequently, it is an attractively priced alternative to Salzburg tourist prices.
Franz Xaver from Hallein wrote "Silent Night" - just thought I'd mention that.
The Celtic Museum in Hallein proper is also well worth a visit.
I unreservedly recommend the Hafnerwirt as a fine reasonably-priced place to stay.
