Not bad, but overpriced

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Feb 24, 2010
The hotel is not bad, but it is overpiced:
1- The staff is very friendly;
2- The swimming pool is nice;
3- It is quiet and calm;
4- It is far from the beach (even using a short-cut) and the road is in bad condition;
5- Breakfast is only a bit more than basic;
6- Tv with only one international (movies) channel;
7- Room (at least, mine) with no closet or other room to put your clothes in.
8- Cleaning is made quickly and not so carefully..

I repeat, it is not a bad hotel, but i think you can have cheaper (I mean cost/benefit) and better located.

The pool is nice. Too bad it's the only nice thing here.

Room (the loft) is SO SMALL you feel like you have to squeeze yourself in. Don't believe the pictures you see on its website. totally BS.

Location: This small resort is far far away from anything, not to mention the beach. This resort gives you ZERO beach feeling. It's almost 300 meters away from Sai Keaw beach. You don't even hear it (forget about seeing it). The walkway to the beach is also nothing present. Dirty ruined road all the way. I would not walk there late at night.

Staffs. Lots of Myammar workers there. No Thai hospitality. They are basically illegal workers in Thailand. They can speak little Thai and No English.

Breakfast! - it's pathetic. Well, I compare it to another nice resort I always stay at even lower price. The resort provice 5-hotel-breakfast on the beach ( I mean it. Coffee served at your table. Hot grill bacon , omllete, fruit etc. all you can eat buffet. with a full 180 view of Sai kiaw beach.

My advice is if you want to visit Samed, stay away from this Lima bella resort. Just stay on anything next to the beach. You should be fine.

I had stayed on Koh Samet in 2007 at Saikeaw Beach Resort. Having stayed at Lima Bella this time round, I am certain I would stay again. The room we stayed in (poolside deluxe) was comfortable and well designed. The pool area was one of the nicest out of Koh Samet's resorts. The staff were also very friendly and the management were also helpful in amending my return travel details back to Bangkok. The development around Koh Samet is unfortunately having it's impact (there was external building noise from a nearby work site) However, this was still relatively slight. The location of the hotel is not the greatest and it's about 300m walk to the beach, but this is more of an issue walking back in the evening from a beach-side bbq - whilst we were there, there was a rather over-excited dog that used to bark wildly at anything that walked past it's kennel. All things considered, I think this is one of the nicest resorts on the Saikeaw side of the island.

i'll give this resort a 3.5.

The resort is nicely decorated. There is a lovely pool and jacuzzi at the center of the resort. The rooms my friends and i stayed -- mantra loft -- are spacious and well-designed. A resting area on the mezzanine, a living area on the ground floor. A short walk from the pool.

The food is great. We have tried many dishes and were all happy.

The resort location is... just ok but not good. Either a very long walk on a very narrow and dark street, on which taxis drive furiously and carelessly, OR a short cut through 'Saikaew Beach Resort' which is located right on the Saikaew Beach, plus some walk on the same narrow and dark street.

The property doesnt have its own beach. Anyway its newer and more beautiful than Saikaew Beach Resort. The food is better and cheaper than Saikaew Beach Resort.

The staffs, most of them are nice. Just one of them was having too many conditions about many things.

The resort offers a snorkelling day tour at 350 baht per person. Worth a try. Anyway another resorts charged 270 baht person. Just FYI.
