Lazy Staff, No Service

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 2, 2012
Prior to our arrival we sent an email requesting to change our room from standard to deluxe. No reply was given. On arrival we were told no Deluxe rooms available, however there was a room available during our stay, but they could not be bothered to change us as this created work for them [too hard basket]. The quality of rooms are poor. No WIFI in the room. The T.V is only in Thai speaking channels, No cable TV [broken]. No tea and coffee facilities in room. However the Pool is lovely and the distance to the beach is a very short walk [two mins]. Breakfast average.
Date of stay: July 2012
Room Tip: If you are to stay here, pay extra for the pool deluxe room.

Stayed one week to Lima Bella... Not the greatest resort of all times, but ok. Don't expect a hi-so 5 stars, there is one, it's Paradee resort and it's at least 3-4 times the price.
The staff (Burmese yes, but who cares? (saw another comment about that)) was absolutely lovely and extremely warm, nice and helpful. The restaurant food was nice, Thai food validated by my Thai girlfriend and myself.
There is a short walk to the beach, no deal-breaker, 7/11 not far, but it's true the road could be a bit more "flip-flop friendy" :-)

Swimming pool is great, pool bar is close, very good.

Rooms were quite small, aircon working well (but device a bit broken, swing feature making lots of noise), bathroom was ok, bed a tad firm as it was a mattress on a wood board...

Would I go back? eating there sure, sleeping there why not, simply not for an extended stay.

All in all, was a very nice week and I got relaxed at Lima Bella ;-)

I recommend the rental of a motorbike or ATV (better) to try to reach the deep south of the island... during the rain season roads tend to get really bad (uneven), so be careful but it is great fun.

If you are looking for somewhere that is really near the fun and noise of the beach, whilst being quiet and secluded itself, then this is the place to go. It is set back from the beach, in a bit of jungle with a great pool area. It is a 5 min walk into the main stretch of shops etc., and a 3 min walk to the beach. The staff here are the friendliest I've ever met - so a big shout-out and thank you to Pla, Ann, May, Nong, and Tua-Lek; you made our stay and memories that will last a lifetime.

My wife and I stayed at Lima Bella on our recent trip to Thailand.
Nong and her team gave us the most fantastic service during our stay and we couldnt have been happier.
The room we choose was the poolside delux, which we found clean and comfortable.
The location of the hotel is only a 5 minute short walk to the beach,
The pool is a welcome sight after being out exploring around the island.
The only negative thing we found was the wi fi did not work very well in the room itself, but this should not deter anyone from booking at this fantastic hotel.

Room tip: Why pay the higher rates on the beach front when you have this fantastic hotel that holds its own with any of the more upmarket hotels.

Stayed at Lima Bella with a Group of 15 friends. We were there for a post wedding relaxation trip. It was lovely. They took really good care of us. The hotel rooms are all a good size. They have a quirky loft style additional bed in each of the bungalow style rooms too. While we didn't use that lofty bed, it was a nice touch. Bathrooms clean. Bed comfortable enough, clean sheets and towels.

The swimming pool was nice and the beach was a short walk away with a short cut through another resort. Quite convenient really.

The breakfast provided by the resort was nice. A smallish buffet of toast, eggs, fried rice and a few other things. Juice, tea, coffee all provided.

We ate a few afternoon snacks, ordered off the menu. Good food. Reasonable prices.

Overall very satisfied for the price we paid. Its good value for money on Koh Samet. The people are very nice and accommodating. Highly recommend for a group of friends and family groups.

Room tip: The grand phuta double room is lovely. Otherwise all the other rooms are very similar.
