“Thai hospitality at its finest”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

Came here with my wife in August for 2 nights and stayed in a garden villa.

We give 10 out of 10 for the beach and surrounding. It's the best beach that's within reasonable driving distance from Bangkok (2.5 hours drive (200 km), then 20 mins by boat). The sand on the beach is white and clean. The beach is beautiful and swimmable and private. There are cayaks by the beach that you can use for free. There are lot of trees and it feels like you are part of the nature. The resort was clean and well spaced out, so you never fell cramped.

We give 10 out of 10 for service. The service was excellent. When you arrive by boat, the hotel staff waits for you at the beach, and show you around the resort by buggy, then takes you to the room straight away. The check-in is done at the pier before you get on the boat. We had free welcome drinks on the first day. In our package, there was free ice cream at 2pm every day and free afternoon tea at 3pm. All the staff were friendly and well trained. There was no problem regarding the service when we were there. Room service was fast and efficient. The hotel also provides tours around the island, and DVD to watch in the room.

We give 8.5 out of 10 for the food. There is a selection of Thai food and western food. The Thai food was very good. The western food was ok. We would recommend the Thai food as it seems the hotel was better at making Thai dishes than western dishes. As for the breakfast, there was a vast selection of dishes at breakfast, but felt that the quality of breakfast was still behind the standards comparable to a 5 star international chain.

We give 7 out of 10 for the villa. We would describe the villa as nice but wouldn't describe it as luxurious. The only problem we had was that the aircon was straight above the bed, which meant you can feel the aircon on your head when you sleep. We didn't sleep too well on the first night, but got used to it by the 2nd night. We felt the TV was a bit small.

Overall, this is a very nice place. It's excellent for relaxation and hanging out by the beach.

My family and I stayed 3 nights at the Paradee resort and will never forget it. The only access to the resort is by boat, we arrived much to the delights of my teenage children by speed boat having filled out all our registration details in their office at the pier. This included choosing which essential oils, fragranced hand made soaps and complimentary wines we would like for our villas.
We were greeted by a number of hotel staff as we disembarked including the manager, chef etc and received a warm personal greeting and escorted to our rooms and given a brief tour of the resort. The garden villa consisted of a balcony with loungers, table and chairs. The bedroom was spacious, huge bathroom with outdoor circular shower. We also had a little sitting room with 2 sofas, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, minibar etc. Children had a similar arrangement in the adjacent villa.
There is a sunset bar where we had a complimentary cocktail on the first evening before dinner in the restaurant. The food was very good, ample portions. One evening they arranged a seafood BBQ with unlimited access to rock lobster, a variety of huge prawns, scallops etc., 1800baht. Wine was on the expensive side.
The facilities around the pool and on the beach were excellent. Once you have located a lounger a beach/pool attendant brings towels and an ice bucket with complimentary bottles of water. Further complimentary items included a selections of fruit around midday a followed by ice cream. Between 3 and 4 afternoon tea with a variety of delightful nibbles is offered.
Even when the resort became busier on the Saturday when several boats were dropping off guests the resort seemed to absorb them, it still felt quiet and relaxed.
The level of service cannot be faulted, wonderful stay, would recommend highly.

I have just returned from a two nights stay with my family in two adjoining garden villas in Paradee. The stay was extremely comfortable with high quality service and attentiveness which starts from th personalised welcome as you step off the speedboat in the resort, choice of complimentary wine, and carries on until the staff bid you goodbye on your way out!

The villas are beautifully designed with lots of space, a charming sit out and eating area and most of all an extremely luxurious bathroom with a gigantic tub and outdoor rain shower! We stayed in the garden villas without the pool, but they have a separate medium sized beautiful pool nestled between the trees to cater to the 6 garden villas without pools and we really enjoyed the privacy of that pool as the other garden villas were not fully occupied...in act we never felt the need to use the main pool which had more guests and was sunnier!

The beach is small but spectacular...powder white sand, shallow clear and warm waters which are turquoise blue, very safe for small children. It is far cleaner than the waters of Pattaya or Hua Hin. There are trees on the beach which offer some protection from the sun during noon time. one can rent a kayak or snorkel gear free of cost from the resort, but we were unable to snorkel in this weather as the water on the other beach of the hotel where one can see some fish was rough and not fit for swimming. People have mentioned that there is nothing near the resort as it is quite secluded, but we never felt the need to go outside the resort during the short stay there.

The food is expensive by Thailand resort standards but whatever we ordered was excellently prepared and beautifully served. Am surprised as I had read some reviews which did not comment favourably on the quality of the food, but we felt it was delicious! The sunset view from the Sunset Bar is worthwhile if the skies are clear. They serve a complementary afternoon tea with snacks which we enjoyed along with the nice breakfast buffet service. The only reason why they have a got a 4 rating on service is that some of the room service orders took longer than they should, on the last day we had low water pressure in the villa and they took some time to fix it even though we immediately notified them.

All in all, Koh Samet is the best beach getaway within 3 hrs driving distance of Bangkok with clean blue waters and much more privacy then even Hua Hin. The resort is quite expensive compared to other resorts in Thailand of this standard, but then we travelled on a long weekend and we had to pay the weekend surcharge so that may be part of the reason. While the property is not gigantic it is very well managed with personalised service. Highly recommended, if you want to splurge a bit on a private weekend holiday.

Room Tip: Garden villa without pool worked out great as we used the medium sized pool that is meant to be shar...

amazing hotel, I have been there many times, and brought many friends there, everyone was VERY impressed.
it has amazing beautiful beach, they serve you free ice-cream and afternoon tea on the beach, food is also good there. it is pure paradise on earth. no need to go anywhere else, just stay in the resort. the rooms are amazing too, has private pool. the sea is very clean there, (normally in Thailand is very dirty, even in other part of the same island). breakfast is amazing, also the spa is good. best service in Thailand

Room Tip: all rooms are individual villas. i stayed in a few, all very good

We stayed here with 2 children of 4 and 6 years and had a fantastic time. The staff did a magnificent job in assisting to every need and were great with the children. The pristine location, beautiful facilities and friendliness of the staff stole our heart. The prices for food are a bit steep for Thailand, but the quality of the food and service in the restaurant were super though. Ideal family holiday because of the pool with childrens part and slowly in the water decending beach. The location is the charm, but there is no village or restaurants in the close proximity. A nice hideaway, truly a paradise.
