We are about to leave and are still unsure about the resort. It really could do with a better management. You can certainly see that at the main restaurant (the only one that was open during our stay) where your main course might very likely come before your starter, or your other half might already be having her main course while yours will take at least another 20 minutes and when it does come, you realise some bits are still missing. The happy hour is a rip off of sorts, where prices are actually more expensive than during normal hours, where they are actually ok... It's the same thing elsewhere. While they keep the main beach in pristine condition (but you will feel like a sardine there, far too many loungers), the other one, more secluded is not cleaned regularly, and waste tends to accumulate there before someone will do anything. The resort is also very noisy around the bungalow area (and only this one) at night and very early morning where hundreds of birds gather every single day (between 6pm and 9pm and around 6am) in a couple of trees to tweet like there will be no tomorrow. Needless to say, this leaves lots of droppings on the path and on some terraces which are only cleaned on occasions. This to me is a big no-no.

Having said this, the resort is very family friendly surprisingly and is composed of three areas, each one with its own pool, with a kids area. The staff does try and is always kind and ready to help. We just got the impression that they were left to themselves. Few speak English however and this was annoying on occasions.

We rented a bungalow for a few days, no 609, and aside from the birds, we must admit it was quite charming and kept in working order and clean. The loungers and the parasols on the second beach could be replaced though. Would we come back? Probably not, yet one does see the potential here...and there is a lot, but for now, it's ok, no more.

F&B manager must be non-existent. Personnel in restaurant and bar are lazy, unresponsive and rude. Breakfast is mediocre at best. If you want a double espresso they charge USD 6.00 each. Expensive place - would never come back again. Will I've rooms 4 stars, pool 2 stars, restaurant and bar 1 star between them. Don't get lured in by happy hour - only a 10% discount. Feel like they want you to come so they can rip you off.....

Toilet never flushed, bathroom was minging, cold shower. Ants crawling everywhere, including in the bed, was a nightmare compared to the lovely stay at samed sun sand which I would recommend to anyone who's looking to stay in that area of samet.

Took us a while to decide on this resort with the help of other reviews on this site but we are so glad we did. It was a fabulous choice. Located on the beach, we felt safe to spend all our nights walking on the shore till way past midnight. The spa was lovely. Food was divine. Beach was crowded during the days but beautiful and calm at night. The property is well maintained and clean. We were a group of moms with much needed time away to relax and unwind. And we did! We couldn't ask for more. Will definitely go back with family, coz we saw the kids having a blast.

I stayed for 3 days with my family. Room booked was Deluxe sea side....room checked in had view of walls of adjacent rooms on both sides. Killed the experience of being on a island resort. The reception staff were clearly not cooperative, the manager was polite and promised to change the room the next day but conveniently forgot the next day.

The shower was leaking..complained about it ..but never got rectified in the 3 days.

For the price charged, it offers no distinctive experience. Just another resort which could be in the midst of anywhere... Even the reception and nearby area looks akin to a run down bargain hotel. They can do well to fence of the nearing area where the taxis and their drivers throng and create a melee and also develop the entrance. Far cry from the very distinguished appearance of Paradise which we happen to see while travelling inland.

Location is good and there is a matronly housekeeper who is very nice.

Will i repeat..Kof Samet ..Yes, Sai Kaew Resort..NO

The beauty of Sai Kaew is that you feel at home in its island setting on Ko Samet. The bungalows are set in a spacious 'tropical' park within five minutes walk of the main restaurant which overlooks the 'caster sugar' white sandy beech and the blue, blue sea. The rooms are very clean, but a little dated now, but you get a real feel of being on holiday in a tropical country, rather than being cooped up in concrete hotel which could be anywhere in the world. Food is reasonably priced and excellent, but wine, as almost everywhere else in Thailand, is horrendously expensive. The staff are delightful and the service is excellent. With the ferry cost included in the price, the costs of the rooms are reasonable, considering that it is the best place to stay on this beech. We will continue to go there as it is only a 2-3 hour drive from Bangkok to the ferry at Ban Phe.

Dont be fooled by deceptive and clever photography making this resort look big and beautiful. Pictures on the website make this resort look beautiful and yes common shared areas as the reception and restaurant are sleek and modern but it stops there. After being taken to our deluxe cottage room we were met with broken curtains, a shower with no water preasure or any hot water not to mention half a tree pushing its way through a crack in the mould covered wall. Upon calling reception by guessing which button to ring on the unmarked phone a polite worker arrived to agressively fix one of our requests but did not understand enough english to help us with our shower situation. The photo online of the "pool" looks beautiful however is for top room guests all others have basic looking pool with dirty deck chairs. Wireless didnt work initially and the promised robes and slippers were non existant. Would not recommend at all for such high price, if booking cancellation was possible would have done it.
