Summer Day Beach Resort was fantastic. It is a small resort with only six rooms on the beach front. You get your own private terrace right outside your room, and the area in front of the hotel including the beach is reserved for resort guests only. There are just enough benches and beach chairs for guests.
No clusters of 50 beach chairs, obstructed views, noisy clubs or massive amounts of touts which we saw everywhere else along the beach. The touts who do pass by here seem very friendly with the staff, occasionally stopping for a beer or a meal at the resort restaurant if theres room. They don't bother you as much as they do in the rest of the island after you say no the first time, which was great.
The owner and the rest of the staff were great and very friendly, happy to recommend food or things to do around the island. We mostly ate and relaxed at the resort in the evenings as we are not that into clubbing, and it was great just sitting on the terrace or on one of the beach chairs relaxing with a cold beer late into the night. The food at the resort was great as well.
We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Koh Samet.
