Ao Pudsa Bungalows
Reviewed February 12, 2012

After previous good experiences at Pudsa Bungalows (and Ao Tubtim), we decided to return expecting the usually quietness offered. However, after this last experience, we won't be returning. The bungalows are overpriced (A/C at 1,500-1,700) but because of the good location (far enough from the noise of Silversand but close enough to walk, plus a beautiful beach on your doorstep) that wasn't much of a problem for us. The problem came when boatloads of day trippers were dropped on the beach, the staff at Pudsa directed them towards ALL the chairs and umbrellas, not caring at all that there were no chairs, umbrellas, or beach space for those of us that were paying to stay at the resort. If you are able to look past that and just want to enjoy the peacefulness of the water (which is beautiful), don't expect to enjoy it long before speed boat after speed boat come very fast into the space, stealing any peacefulness left and leaving a horrible waft of diesel fuel. We literally felt "chased away" and went in search of a quieter beach. Which, we did find in the next 2 beaches. That's where we would stay if we ever return.

We stayed one night in a new bungalow to the price of 1.500 baht/night which we found a bit overpriced. The day after we changed to an old bungalow - which really was an old bungalow and needed several maintenance - to the price of 700 baht/night. The staff didn't really seem to care about tourists probably because tourists arrived in great numbers. We have been to Koh Samet in 1999 and 2007 but now we find it too touristy. The restaurant cooked some excellent food.
