“Worth the visit!”

We decided to eat here on the strength of the TA reviews. We weren't disappointed. A home from home feel to the place. Roger (the owner) came over a no of times for a chat & to see how we were getting on. Good value and food was spot on. When i visit koh samet again i will certainly go back.

“Do not eat here”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2012

Didn't enjoy at all.chicken satay was ok but the ribs tasted really earthy, the crab bisque was terrible just like eating cream with a crab flavour. my husband had seafood chilli an basil only 3 prawns an 2 pieces of squid we left nearly all ov our food and the owner even asked what was wrong an I said we didn't like the food, any self respecting restaurant owner wud not ave let us pay for the food considering we only ad a few mouthfuls. I wud have still paid but it would have been nice for some respect from the owner, who I found quiet rude.... Do not go !!!!!!

“Not sure what all the fuss is about”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2012

We ate here because of all the excellent reviews, but we were quite disappointed.

We had goats cheese salad and chicken satay to start. These were fine, but not great. The salad had only two pieces of cheese.

For the main course we ordered a green chicken curry and the ribs. We like hot food, so we asked for the curry to be made extra hot. It wasn't. Instead we got a very very sweet green curry - much too sweet for our taste, not spicy at all. In fact the sweetness overwhelmed. Very disappointing.

We expectec great things of the ribs. The good part ... The serve was very large. And the meat literally fell off the bone. But the tomato sauce was (again) too sweet for us.

The restaurant surprisingly does not serve wine or mixed drinks, which was a surprise.

“Charming decor; unique taste & must-try desserts!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2012 via mobile

We visited Red Ginger for lunch as it was highly recommended in Tripadvisor. Initially we couldn't find the place and asked for directions from other local shops but were told they have no idea where it is!

Anyway, we found it eventually and I must say it is really a good recommendation! Food comes in huge portion and were very fresh, as the lady boss cooked upon orders. The taste of food is a unique fusion of western and Vietnamese cuisine. Drinks were delicious (I tried the mango milkshake) and the dessert - chocolate brownie, is a must-try! It comes with mango and vanilla ice cream and just thinking about it now is making me salivate- its that good!

Owners were very friendly too and they have a cute daughter that will melt your heart. Go check it out for something different beyond the usual local food.
