If you are looking for basic and clean rooms with the sound on the beautiful sea just below your balcony ( though not that you can dive into from) with views across the bays and far enough away from the more lively resorts (though the boom boom of the music till the small hours carries but can be drowned out mostly by the adequate air con) the the Virmarn Samed Resort is ideal. Right next to a lovely sandy beach with bars and restaurants with day beds that you can chill out through the day and into the night but you must remember to buy their food and drink as it is polite right. Food and drink prices here are good and mostly inexpensive and their is a shop and ATM for those essentials. All the reviews regarding the breakfast at the Virmarn are right it is poor and the 7.30 till 9.30 opening is tight if you are there to relax and lie in. The staff are functional but not overly friendly but will smile and help when asked. All in all it was ideal for us but we would want to try other resorts on Koh Samet which is lovely.

We were in this hotel in November 2012. His choice we have made based on feedback from the site Booking.com. Perfect location on the Cape - close to a stunning view of the beach and the sea on one side, quiet bay - on the other side. Very cozy and quiet place.
As for the cons, then a lot of mosquitoes and ants in the room - take it into account when you plan a trip. The rooms are old, only water in the fridge, no slippers.
However, perfect location and a small price makes this hotel very attractive.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a quiet romantic place to spend a few days alone with nature and your girlfri...

It was long way to come here with 3 hours bus ride from Bangkok plus almost two hours boat trip to this beautiful family beach. We took routine boat with 70 baht return tkt. Should be quicker with speed boat which charge 400 baht per person for one way. it was about five minutes walk on sand to the hotel. We arrived on a full moon day and tide was high so we have to walk in the water. Hotel staff are pleasant. Buffet breakfast was not bad but cold when we went there at 9 am and only served instant coffee. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. if you arevTV person, there are more than 200 channels but mostly free Thai, Laos and Myanmar channel to our surprise. There is no True vision.

Room Tip: room B8 has nicer view to the sea but have to climb up the stair to second floor.

We chose the Vimarn because it was the only decently priced resort in the area just after New Year. The resort has a nice location between the 2 beaches and good views of both bays. We booked the hotel room in the building, which was quite big but a bit on the dark side with just a tiny window. The only real downside to this place was the breakfast, which to me just lacks management. They could so easily make it a bit nicer with the same money but it seems like they don't care much about it. Nothing seemed fresh, no milk, instant coffee, some mornings no fruit etc.

All in all I still felt like it was a good enough deal and will probably go back.

Room Tip: There is one "hotel room" (in the main building) with a sea view window. They are located...

I Stay at Vimarn Samed Resort last week with a friend in Cottage Garden View Room. Nice cottage in the tropical garden, clean room, comfortable bed, shower with hot water ok. If there is a table to place our belongings would be better. More attention on keeping the area around clean should be better, the swing is broken.

Breakfast was good enough, but a bit early finished.

Overall good, recommended.

This hotel can be easily reached when taken a speedboat directly to Au Wongduan (name of the beach). We took a boat to the main pier and then a taxi, which is not very comfortable. Then you have to walk around some buildings and over the beach to get to the hotel, something that can be hard when carrying a lot of luggage. The hotel is nicely situated on rocks on the tip of the beach and there is a nice terrace/restaurant to have a drink or something to eat. Rooms are clean and aircon works well, but a bit worn. We were in the Vimarn Suite on the side of the hotel that faces Hat Sai Kaew, where there is daily nightclubbing until 03:00, so if you are a light sleeper, it is wise to request a room facing Au Wongduan. Also, the standard rooms looked a bit small but sufficient. The hotel has no direct access to a beach, but does have nice platforms over the rocks where one can relax and enjoy the sun. All beaches are walking distance. The staff in the hotel is at times more interested in what is going on on the television than taking care of the guest or cleaning the tables so that they are not being invaded by ants. Breakfast is very dissapointing with cold eggs, no fruit and not many choices. Having read other reviews about this hotel, it would be a good idea for the owners to improve this.

I stayed here a few weeks ago for second time, and to be honest, I'll probably stay there again.
It's nicely situated on the end of the cove and away from the bustle of the beach bars, but less that five minutes walk from them.
The room are nice if a little careworn, but the aircon works, they're clean and have a nice feel to them.
My only problem with the place is the breakfast. It's not great, although quite edible. The main issue is that it finishes at 09:30 !
Now, I don't know about other folks, but when I'm only holiday, I like to be able to have a bit of a lie in if I want to, and having to set my alarm clock to be able to make breakfast before the buffet closes is a little annoying to say the least.
Having said that, there are plenty of options for having a leisurely and late morning repast all along the cove so it's really not a huge issue, but I suppose the main thing that annoys is the feeling that the hotel sees then breakfast service as a necessary evil to be just gotten through as quickly and painlessly as possible.
I'd suggest to the hotel management that if this is the case, then give people a room only option with an appropriate rate. At the moment rooms can only be booked on a B and B basis.

Other than that, I love the place. It's reasonably priced, nicely situated, and the staff are nice and friendly if a little linguistically challenged.

If I go to Koh Samet again, I will be booking in here.
