“Great beach, location.”
Reviewed March 12, 2013 via mobile

Found this to be a nice place on samet. Nice gardens, clean bungalows, helpful staff. Great location near te town, found a great little restaurant called Bananajust past the 7 eleven. The only problem was the mosquitoes that gorged on my 2 year old son. A mosquito net would have been great. We took the room on the beach with our own patio. Great for a family or a group of 4. Would come back.

Not sure why this place is getting bad reviews?? I've stayed here twice and have just returned from a lovely 3 night trip with family and friends, the staff here are very nice and were helpful when any problems come up ( loud air con in room 23, moved to a new room with no problems and lots of apologies )
It's a nice resort if you have children and the location is ideal as its not too close to the pumping house music bars! But just a few mins walk to the restaurants, the food at the resort was nice and the rooms are a little small but all your basics are there so I find it good value for money, many people will say its expensive at 3000bht a night but there are resorts on this island that are a lot more expensive and as not as nice, great location for the little town at the back too, all in all a great little place where the staff were happy to look after us and were sad to see us go!

Room Tip: Avoid the super loud air con in room 23, sounds like plane taking off!

I really enjoyed my stay at Tonsak Resort, i was a little worried beforehand because as usual, i base a lot on where i stay on other people's reviews and Tonsak has recieved a mixed bag, however its a lovely little resort!! What you have to remember is you are booking a small bungalow with basic facilities because it is the location you are really going for!! Having said that, the VIP room was clean, provided a/c, a fridge, complimentary water, tv, big bed and a shower, really, what else do you need when booking an island getaway!! The staff i encountered were friendly and helpful and the room was always nice and clean when we returned from the beach. Only 2 minor things to change if i could, a safety deposit box would be a nice addition and the shower water/drain wasnt the most pleasent smelling but nothing to complain about! Oh, i guess a mozzie net would be a little luxury in the VIP room!!! We didnt try the restaurant but there are so many places to eat, you are spoilt for choice! I guess the ultimate compliment i can give Tonsak is that i plan to return in April and bring the girlfriends parents along too, i wouldnt risk the loss of face if i didnt like the place!!!

Stayed in one room bungalow. Clean and nice with refrigerator - all you need. Staff helpful but avoid their restaurant. Much better places to eat nearby. Great beach but got a bit crowded closer to New year.

We hoped to have a relaxing time in Thailand at the end of a hectic tour of Europe. When booking we made sure that the resort catered for the quiet relaxed feel rather than the party boy set. We were assured that they did not welcome groups out for drinking binges.

What a disappointment it was when a bunch of louts arrived and started partying on their verandah in the afternoon, and it never stopped. Constantly wakened from people running around the resort and yelling. At one stage I awoke to find somebody had decided to set themselves up on my verandah. With no interconnecting door, there was no way to talk to my wife and son to reassure them.

In the morning we exchanged war stories. The resort refused to evict the party boys who had spoiled our first night in Thailand, so we chose not to stay for the second night we had booked.

No idea how the rooms compare to others in Koh Samet, but I was very disappointed by the bathrooms (dark, dirty, almost no water pressure). Can't recommend this place to anybody.

We spent 3 nights at the Tonsak resort during our stay on Koh Samet and it was the perfect island retreat. The resort itself is set in tropical gardens so you really get an authentic tropical beach feel. It is located on Saekew beach and only in a few minutes walk along the white sand you will find beach restaurants with fire shows and authentic Thai cuisine.

Definitely recommended!

We stayed at Tonsak on Sai Kaew, the best beach in Koh Samet. We were slightly disappointed as we entered but that was just momentary. The beach is white, the breakfast is fantastic and the coconut smoothie is the best ever. The rooms could be less suffocating, but they are better than a lot of resorts around this place. For dinner, you could just stroll down the lovely beach at night and pick from any of the good restaurants serving excellent Thai food. Rent a bike and go to Ao Prao beach for the sunset and a cocktail at Lima Coco.

Tonsak is a good match for people looking for better than average accommodation. For the best, however, you should head to the luxury resorts on Ao Prao.

Room Tip: Try go get the beach front cottage. But, dont be disappointed if you dont. The beach is all yours if...
