“Lovely hotel in a great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

Stayed four nights with my family for vacation. The Ocean Breeze Grande is mediocre, but they did have two king size beds in our family room and clean & comfortable. The Beach was beautiful and private , our family had a great time relaxing on the beach. Breakfast was delicious, but a little overpriced, especially drinks but can go to another beach by foot about 10-15 min. walk, and access to several small supermarkets and ATM machines.
The staff was friendly and the grounds were well kept but most of the staff could not speak English well enough to communicate which was strange as everywhere else we visited on the island could. Nights are quiet and relaxing. Having booked through koh-samet.org We are convinced that this place would be to my liking judging from all the reviews posted .

Located on a beautiful spot next to a long pier. The rooms are clean, but the beds are hard. It was impossible to get an extra towel in the evening after a swim.

The staff is friendly but the service is very slow.

The food is quite good and the beach is gorgeous and quiet. Not too many people trying to sell you things you don't need.

All considered an average resort in a beautiful spot.

We got a cottage for 4 people for 95 USD. Two double beds, a good ones !! We got a very bad dinner with a bbq fish not cooked enough, and a crepe suzette that wasn't at all. Breakfast are very poor, so you can go for meals somewhere else. No pool but a nice quiet beach and you have, just around the corner, access to a more busy beach plenty of restaurants, bars and water activities. Free wi - fi and friendly staff. Room is very basic and just ok with a nice balcony with a sea view. The taxi trip from Samed's main pier to hotel is not recommendable since road is very bad and you go jumping in the back of a baht taxi; better to arrive by speed boat. There is a pier just in front of the hotel but you need to get a group to take the boat from the land to this pier. Anyway, on our way back we just contact the captain of one boat that we saw unloading some stuff and asked him to bring us back to the main land and it was perfect !

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view.

Stayed here 3 nights in a ocean view bungalow. On arrival in a speedboat the staff helped us with baggage from the boat and had an easy check in experience. Room was clean and comfortable with an ok view of the bay. Room did have a few mosquitos but an in room mosquito repellent took care of them and as on the rest of the island it was overrun with insects no complaints from us.
We had one full meal there and the breakfast once. This is one area the hotel could really improve on. The meal was bland and overly expensive. Breakfast cold eggs, reformed ham and cocktail sandwiches the bar/restaurant next to the hotel at least did an edible breakfast.
Staff were ok, some smiled some didn’t but always had ok service.
Beach was ok, up to par with a lot of other places I have been to in Thailand (koh Chang, Hua Hin etc..). Very slight sloping into the water (take goggles of snorkel as near the edge of the bay there was a good range of different fish). The beach also had lots of little crabs that lived in small holes that occasionally popped up and ran to the next hole, no trouble to anyone as they hid as soon as you walked near them.
I do think it would have been good if the place had stayed open a later everything shut before 9pm and they had provided a little bit more entertainment options, but for a quiet relaxing stay no complaints.

My tip for the place is eat your evening meal in the next bay over, lovely sea food and barbecues on the beach with the standard fire shows but bring a torch for the trip as part of the 5 minute walk is not lit.

We made a booking for an Ocean View Cottage with double bed. When we arrived we found that is was not exaclty what we had paid for. Twin beds located directly behind another cottage. The twin beds pushed together meant that we could not use the mosquito nets and were bitten all night.

There were no towels in the room. I had to go and make a big fuss just to get towels (I thought hotels always provided towels). The shower curtain was filthy with mold and fungus all over it.

I told the woman at reception about the problems and she basically shrugged her shoulders and passed the buck.

The beach is nice, but that is not enough for me to come back to this place. (I'd rather use one of the other resorts on the same beach).

Room Tip: Don't take Ocean View A10-A12 if you actually want to have a view!!

Lovely room in a nice location at an okay price for Samet. Staff however were appalling, they couldn't have been less interested or more unhelpful... Not somewhere I plan on returning to.

This place has gone downhill dramatically - don't spoil your christmas or break like we did wasting time with this terrible place. We booked via agoda for a 3 adult room and arrived for christmas -room shocking and the bed was a old dilapadated camp bed for the third person- and then the room full of mosquitos and a lovely old turd still in the bathroom toilet.
Staff totally not interested even though we reflected that this was our forth time there -essentally place run by kids now - no senior managment.

No service at all , the staff just stand around playing and hugging each other and picking god knows what out of each others hair, the beach was dirty - full of glass and even the sea full of building debris obviously they could not be bothered to take any of it away hence just walked in a dumped it.

Outside the place there is a massive rubbish site and it stinks - there are dogs running about the place and even we had three snakes in the gardens - great for a 7 year old safety ehh.

The staff are crap and the manageress this morning told us "dont book by internet, I do you special deal next time, we thought your foreigners!!!!'

Well at 80 quid nearly 4000 baht a night - would be better if the surly , lazy, arrogant staff stayed alone in their "hotel" , the only time they moved was to play volleyball with each other and then mess around with a brush which had 3 strands attempting to shift loads of crap that had landed on the beach.

Forget it - stay anywhere bar this place - a disgrace to Koh Samet !!!

Room Tip: Pick another hotel that is vagely interested in looking after guests
