I have been to TubTims many times and have just spent two fabulous weeks there. In fact it is strange to read so many negative reviews about it. The staff are nothing but friendly - they are very friendly and easy going, the resort has a range or rooms and prices from very basic to lovely beach front, air conditioned huts. The construction work is temporary and really not an issue moreover it is so simple to walk 5 minutes down the beach or over the cliffs to find a totally tranquil spot. Tubtims is located on a quiet beach but only a short walk from the busier ones. It has long been known by Bangkok expats as a weekend get away.

Room Tip: we stayed in both the huts to the left of the resort and the beach front ones - both are equally gre...

Construction barge daily by beach area v loud and stray dogs running about the resort. Island is beautiful but don't bother with this resort awful. Worst place in 10 weeks of travel

Thank you for taking the time to convey your comment regarding your recent experience with us. We certainly do our utmost to make your stay comfortable and pleasant . Please accept our apologies for any inconvenient cause.

The detail of this case:

The customer claimed that 15,000฿ has been stolen from his cottage while he was joining a boat trip.

Tubtim called Samed Police Station and the police found that apart from the money reported lost, other belongings were there in the room including iPhone and iPad.

No evidences of prising enters even checked from CCTV. Moreover, one of Tubtim's policies is that spare key given to no one without the permission of the room' owner.

However, Tubtim shown their responsibility by giving him 20% off for the first 5 nights then free of charge for the last night. (Total 12,000 BTH , the customer pay 6,800 BTH)

Anyway, Police told the resort that the case was unusual as other valuables were untouched, only money stolen. Ordinary theif would not do this.

Thank you

Tubtim resort is at a great location, relatively quiet and peaceful yet walking distance to the more vibrant parts of Koh Samed. The rooms are pretty standard but defintely good value for money. We were somewhat dissappointed by the staff who weren't very friendly or caring. Further there's currently construction going on, which may cause a huge barge to be right in front of the resort all day long, basically ruining your ocean view and causing a lot of noise. If you want to stay at Tubtim and you haven't made a booking in advance, just go there. Especially during the week they seem to have rooms available, even though people at the pier may tell you that it's fully booked (and subsequently advice you to book at another resort for which they likely earn some commission..).

Tub Tim is an old favourite and a highlight of a Thailand trip.
Yes the service is awful by western standards but hey you're on a beach in Thailand. Chill out and order another beer!
Room is clean and most of the staff are friendly if less than over effusive with their service.
The building work on the beach is awful and blights a normally quiet and peaceful beach. Let's hope they clean it up once they have left. If anything it's a good excuse to head south and explore some of the other beaches.
There is now buffet breakfast for AC rooms and an ATM.
Samet in November seems to be teeming with European tourists so it loses something of that Thai feel.

Had a three night break at Tubtim while visiting family in Bangkok.
Quiet resort with clean wooden beach huts.
Only 2.5 hrs by taxi from Bangkok with a short speed boat to ride to resort.
Nice food and great location.
There was some building work being carried put nearby with used part of the beach at Tubtim for access, little bit of a nuisance but certainly didn't spoil our visit.

This was my first trip to Thailand and my first to Samed Island. A local Thai friend recommended I stay at this resort so I gave it a try. Arriving at the island was pretty cool as you can only access it by boat, there is no pier so you have to jump off the boat into the water once you get to the shore and then walk in. I found the resort to be well kept. The grounds were clean and manicured. There were plenty of tables on the sand for eating or just hanging out. The resort is located away from the other more crowded resorts so it was quiet & peaceful. The main village is about a 15-20 minute walk. You can order food and drinks throughout the day. Some of the dishes were traditional Thai dishes. Since this was my first experience with local Thai food, I didn't have much to compare with but regardless, some of the dishes were delicious. The service was mediocre but I didn't really complain because the prices were so cheap. There were several dogs which roamed the grounds which I didn't mind at all, they added to the atmosphere. I think they belong to the resort. The cabins were very basic, clean and cozy. I had a cabin on the second row from the shore. The beds had a futon-like mattress which took some getting used to, however, the linens were clean. The bathrooms were also clean but had very little water pressure so it took a while to shower. There were towels inside the rooms but I would have appreciated having beach towels to use on the beach. Somehow, salmaders made their way into the room at night. I didn't mind as long as they were quiet. Overall, my experience at Samed and Tubtim was very memorable. I had a chance to tour the island and visit some of the other resorts, some of which were much more luxurious that Tubtim. On this trip I wasn't looking for luxury but a basic, economical, safe place to stay and experience this beautiful island.

Room Tip: The room closest to the shore have the best views. Get a room further form the restaurants as they s...

Great place for relaxing and fun!
Great location, very nice and quiet beach, good and clear bungalows,
Close to the restaurants and party place. Price and quality for bungalow are good.
In restaurants are a lot of seafood and thai food.
