This place was clean, quiet and convenient. I called and made a reservation a few day ahead of time. They let us check in at 10:00 when we got there on the ferry which was quite nice. We dropped off our bags and went to the beach which is a 3 minute walk. Mossman house is a very good choice. I have stayed at other places on Koh Samet and was dissapointed. I will stay at Mossman for all future trips.

We arrived late afternoon to catch the last ferry so a lady at the pier convinced us to book a hotel and since we didn't really want to be wandering around in the dark with our luggage we did. Our budget was under 1000, we booked a guest house just off the beach and ended up with a dingy dirty hut that looked nothing like the pictures we were shown. It was very uncomfortable and we refused to use the washroom it was so dirty. We woke up at 6 am tired and grumpy, tried to find a staff member awake to check out, and made our way up to Mossman which we originally planned to stay at after reading the reviews online. Luckily it was open and the nice man allowed us to check in at 7 am - we paid 1, 000 baht - I think this was the end of low season and he gave us a 2 bed a/c twin room with a couch that would of folded into a third bed. Compared to our previous nights room, this room was a welcome haven. It was bright, clean and comfortable. It came with a fridge, tv, cable - although didn't find anything of interest to watch. The bathrooms were clean, the water was warm. Each room had a deck that had chairs outside with drying rack for your clothes. As well it was on the high street with all the amenities just around the corner. The beach is a 2 minute walk, you are on the main beach with the fire show on at night at 8:30 pm. Good hotel.
It is clean, dry, sunny, good air con, silent, good roads nearby, big room with bed and sofa, shelves, nice TV, close to 7/11 and beach.
The complete opposite to Jep Bungalows.
We paid 1000 bath per night. Stuff is sometimes smiley and helpful.

I enjoyed my stay in Mossman's House. I love traveling and sharing with local people, and they were realy nice. They arranged everything during my journey their.
The place is quiet and not very far from the beach. There are many restaurants around the beach so the food was typical and very good.

I have been to Koh Samet 5 times in the last year. I have stayed at some of the very budget accommodation, which for this island is the 400-1500B price bracket, and have always been unhappy. I have then had to move to alternative accommodation, thus have stayed at many of the islands resorts in and around Sai Kaew beach. There is only one place I stayed at before mossman, and I was paying over 3000/night there, so this was not an option for me on every visit.
Mossman House is next to the 7/11 in the Koh Samet village. This means that it is before the park entry point and they say you do not need to pay the charge then to enter the national park.
The room I stayed in was 1100/night, and matched the standard of the other place where I was paying 3000+. Clean, spacious rooms with air-con, fridge and en suite bathroom with power shower. Also you can be on the beach from here in under 90 seconds. 7/11 is literally a few seconds walk so very handy indeed. Also the rooms are very quiet.
They will do your laundry, arrange trips and motorcycles, and will offer discounts if you stay for a few nights. Considering some of the overpriced, truly attrocious accommodation in the vicinity, this place is a real gem, and a pleasure to go back to after a hard day on the beach.
