“perfect place for backpackers”
Reviewed August 5, 2010

Considering the price, we give 4 stars becauce it is cheap and a lovely place to go out and exploring Koa yai. Mike and his wife are perfect hostess, love to make you feel comfortable. We stayed there with kids. We took 2 rooms next to eachother.
You need top do activity's because on the location itself there is not much to do.
You can book a nice tour with bobby's.

My Girlfriend and I stayed at Bobby's for 2 nights, taking their jungle tour and eating a lot of their food (excellent!). The rooms were large, clean and cheap, and the place was friendly and relaxing. Bonsai (the guide) knew the park like the back of his hand, and when the animals were being shy he entertained us with his unique personality.

A word of warning, if you are going in the rainy season, get some good deet spray and coat your boots and trouser legs in it. The park is infested at this time with leeches, and the can scale your legs in seconds and will be sucking off your belly button before you know it! The deet keeps them at bay, but have a stick handy to knock them off too just in case.

My wife and I stayed at Bobby's for two nights and did the day and a half tour of the park with their staff. It was a nice introduction to Thailand outside of Bangkok. It is a quiet place with a laid back atmosphere and very good food. The rooms are clean. The tour guide was good and knew his "stuff" about the park.

I definitely recommend it to others.

We stayed at Bobby's for a couple of days and had a 2-days tours in the jungle including camping in the park. It was simply brilliant, everything about it. Especially the food at Bobby's was some of the best we had during 4 months in Asia! This place is highly recommendable, no doubt.

We stayed at bobbys for 2 nights and took their 1 1/2 day tour. Our guide was fantastic - very good at spotting wildlife - tarantulas, gibbons, monkeys, crocodile etc. I'm sure nothing went unnoticed, he even revealed cockroaches inside the rotten tree trunks! Mike and his wife are very warm and welcoming and the food is good. If you are not into spicy food you must mention this during ordering as most dishes had heaps of chilli in it! We especially liked the breakfast pancake - it was huge and soooooo tasty! The rooms are great value for money - they seemed quite new, very good condition and extemely spacious. It was a very pleasant surprise as we did not expect much for 200 bahts! I would recommend Bobbys to anybody.

Stayed at this hotel during Songkran and was pleasantly surprised. The 1 1/2 day tour was amazing, the food was incredible and the Songkran festivities with the owner's family were fantastic.

Along with my husband and his aunt and uncle, I stayed at Bobby's for two nights and took their 1-day Khao Yai jungle tour. The rooms were huge, clean and comfortable, with hot water. For $6, it's the best value out there. The food is fantastic--excellent Thai dishes for very reasonable prices (40-80 Baht). Make sure to try the sweet potato red curry and the pad kra prao (pork with basil). I was a bit disappointed with the breakfast, though: runny eggs on white toast with hot dogs. If you like your eggs fully cooked, be sure to ask! The owner, Mike, is very hospitable and let us use his personal computer to check our email.

The tour of Khao Yai was also great. Our guide helped us spot gibbons, birds and monkeys, but sadly, we did not see any elephants (just lots of elephant dung). A couple parts of the tour were slightly boring, like when we took a 3 hour hike through the forest and drove an hour and a half through part of the park, but overall I'd recommend it. You stop at Heaw Suwat waterfall (from the film, "The Beach") for an hour or two to swim and eat lunch.

The location of Bobby's is its only downside. It's a few kilometers outside Pak Chong, and about a 45 minute drive from Khao Yai park entrance. However, they will pick you up and drop you off at the Pak Chong bus/train stations for free, and transportation to the park is obviously included in their tours. There didn't seem to be many restaurants or nightlife around the hotel, but their food is great and they serve beer and liquor, so that's not really a problem. There is also a Tesco Lotus within walking distance. I would definitely recommend Bobby's.
