“Excellent Tour Guides”

The tours guides were great - knowledgeable, timely, and funny. The rooms were clean and much better than I expected for the 200 Baht a night.

“seeing four elephants in a forest clearing was the best bit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2012

we stayed for two nights and did both the half and full day tours.
the accomodation is basic with cold shower(not too bad really) but clean and very reasonabley priced. the food is tasty and again very reasonably priced(60 bhat per meal). the lady of the house very kindly arranged our return bus ride to hua hin for us and gave us a lift to the station.
the tours were good. we saw elephants, gibbons, hornbills, a scorpion, millions of bats, huge butterflies etc. the guides know the area like the back of their hands.
a very enjoyable two days.

“Excellent guides...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2012

We did the Green Leaf Tour already the second time. Three years ago we did only the day-tour, it was rain season and we saw a lot of leches (don't worry, they will give you protection socks), Gibbons, monkeys, big spiders, snakes, scorpions and so on. We have been very close to an wild elphant as well...

In December 2011 we came again and this time we did the Day tour as well as the half day tour and again we had a amazing time. Booth are absolutly worth the money...!! It's nice to learn a lot about all the animals and the best part is that the guides are doing a really excellent job...they are always looking for any kind of intersing animals/plants so you will not get borred. Of course there is not a guarantee to see wild elephants...but if you are luck you see one (or a few).

Some suggestions for the Green Leaf Guesthouse:
1.) We have been in a group of 6 people (half day tour) and in a group of 9 people (day tour). 6 people is kind of perfect size, with 9 people it is still all right but the jungel feeling is nicer if the group is smaler. Maybe just charge 100 Baht more and keep the group smaler...
2.) Why not having a Tip Box in the Cars? I'm sure many people would love to tip the guides ;)

“Great day - gibbons, an elephant and a great group of people”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2011

We were very lucky on our Green Leaf Tour, as we had great guides who were very good at spotting wildlife and very enthusiastic about making us see the animals we don't normally get to see.

We saw lots of gibbons, a wild elephant "chased" us unexpectedly and we saw scorpions, hornbills etc. The walk as such was nice as well through the forest and lunch provided was very tasty, especially the dessert rice! :)

We did the 1.5 day tour so we also hang out with our group in the evening which was lots of fun as everyone got on really well and we might have had one rice whisky too many as well ;)

Overall, a great experience and a good way to get to know Khao Yai National Park. It's also a great way to meet Thai people in the park as it' s a very popular destination for weekends!

“Wonderful guide service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2011

My wife and I have a done a number of tours similar to this in other parts of the world (costa rica, alaska, british columbia, to name a few) and this is at least as good if not better. We did the one and a half day tour. Essentially if you are to Pak Chong by about 2pm on day one you can get in on the half day tour which takes you to a hot springs for a nice swim, an interesting bat cave, and then out to another cave where you watch the nightly migration of the bats from the hillside, which was certainly a highlight. The next day is a LONG day. You start earlish 8am or so and you won't get back until about 7pm. You will spend a while in the car, but that is par for the course when you are looking for wildlife. You have to spend time looking if you are going to see anything. We saw tons of stuff, too, it was very much worth it. We even had a very quick glimpse of a wild elephant, which is pretty rare, but was very exciting. We saw many monkeys (gibbons and macaques) and a number of various types of hornbills. Each were amazing and the guides brought telescopes through which we got a great look and photos of these great animal sightings. Also, staying in their guest house is a steal! Very comfortable for a backpacker budget and the clientele they attract are the interesting, traveler types from around the globe who are fun to spend time with on the relatively long day(s) and tour(s). Again, I wouldn't research them too much, just sign up, it's worth it.
