“Amazing tours- cheap good accomadation”

We booked in for 2 nights while visiting the khao yai national park. They offer transfers from the train station which was a great help and they were there ready and waiting for us.
The rooms were very basic but you get what you pay for. As everyone else has said, hot water would be nice but you cannot fault them for cleanliness. They provide you with only what I can describe as a towel to cover you at night, and it definately gets cold throughout the night and morning especially when we couldn't close our window.
The food was lovely and good prices.

The staff were ok, although quite quiet and wasn't sure if they spoke english to well. One guy who checked us in also did our khao yai day trip and he was FANTASTIC he definately made the experience all the more fun and you could really tell he loves what he does. He was great at spotting the animals and had very good English to tell us about everything.
All in all if you are planning on going to khao Yai national park you can't get a better location/guesthouse for your money!

Rooms have seen much better days. No sheets on beds, spotted walls, bathroom with some mould. No furniture except bed. Rooms were acceptable to many backpackers we met there, but we have seen better locations for the price of 300baht per night.
However, the tours they offer to the nearby national park are great, also the half-day tour to see bats and a cave was really cool.
Hostel recommended by Lonely Planet as special tip, don't know why.
Food at the hostel was ok!

Very basic guesthouse. Rooms were large, with a bed and fan. Rooms did have private bathrooms, which were basic, only cold water. Restaurant had great food! Staff was great! All speak English and are very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable! Staff were the tour guides in the park as well - great tour!! Highly recommend taking a tour if you plan on staying here! There isn't much to do if you don't take the tour.

This was a great family run place!!

Cheap and basic accomodation. Beds are as hard as blocks of cement but pillows were excellent for my taste. Cold showers were ok, but warm one would have been nice after a long tour day.
Everything about the room including bathroom was clean.

Restaurant food was well priced if a little the same, same. But you are a captive audience as there is nothing else within walking distance unless you want snack from 7eleven.

Highlight of the whole stay was the tours. We did the half day and the full day and both were excellent and value for money. Guides were great, and went out of their way to try and find creatures to share.

We were given free transfers to and from the guesthouse because we booked the tours - nice touch!

Overall, friendly and helpful staff, very enthusiastic guides! Great experience for us.

Room Tip: Be prepared for rock hard beds and cold showers.

We had booked 2 rooms for 2 nights here. When we arrived we were told that we couldn't stay because we hadn't booked a tour(we had our own transport). The confirmation e-mail we recieved from them didn't mention anything about a booking a tour. The female owner was very rude and unpleasant. Because it was a long weekend there was no other accomodation available nearby so we had to stay at an overpriced hotel in Pak Chong town. In seven years of living in Thailand that's the most unproffesional behaviour I have experienced. Don't risk travelling all the way there to find they don't have a room for you. They can't be trusted!

The guesthouse is a no frills basic place with a nice restaurant serving good thai food and chilled beers. But it is worth staying there if you plan on taking their tours are highly recommended. They have two tours and if you should take both if you have the time. The guides were very friendly, knowledgable and spoke good english. We went on a busy long weekend and even then the groups were not very large, we were six or seven of us. Furthermore the guides were extremely nice and made everyone feel included.

The trek through the national park was really nice and watching millions of bats flying out from the caves in the evening was a sight like no other. The only dodgy bit seems to be the elephant spotting for which they just keep driving around the park hoping the elephants would cross. Not the most effective way and gets tiring eventually after a long day. But overall the experience was wonderful.

We called one day before and booked a 1,5 day tour and 2 nights at their guesthouse. They pick you up at Pakchong.
The tour, both the half and full day tour, were outstanding with very knowledgable guides who were passionate about nature and animals and spoke very good English. Be sure to wear the right clothes - you will get dirty and wet and good walking shoes are recommended. I found the tours to be very good value for money: 1.500B for 1,5 days and the tours were long and included drinks, a meals and lots of snacks.
We saw gibbons, spiders, scorpions, snakes etc...and in the end the highlight: family of wild elefants!!! However, our guide told us that this was rare, sometimes they don't see the elefants for weeks.
The accomodation is basic and very cheap - we paid 300B for a double in the backyard (recommended as the rooms in the front are closer to the street). It is quiet in the back.
The room is very clean with good mosquito windows. The bed is basic with blankets (no covers/linen). The bathroom has a cold water shower. Both shower and sink needed some maintenance in our room, as there was only very little water coming out of them.
I would still highly recommend a stay here, as it is very convenient with the tour (starts early, ends late) and sitting around with others in the evening, chatting about what we saw on the tour and listening to the guides stories proved to be a very good experience for us. The food is good and cheap, too. Breakfast is so so.
All in all, a very good experience, the highlight of our Thailand trip!
