It is a little out of the from Mandalay but this cave complex have some fantastic frescoes, paintings and statues of Buddhas. On ahill top, full of lots of naughty monkeys this is worth a rip. The paintings are some 600-700 year old but sadly many if not most of them are in a sad state of repair and the colours are fading away and people taking photos with flashes does not help. Unlike Ajanta and Ellora caves in India the statues were not carved from the rock itself but were placed there after being made elsewhere. Nevertheless an interesting place. Hopefully the Govt will look after this complex better.
